I'm lying on my bed and I'm absolutely f**king terrified.

I can't feel the left side of my body and I can't speak properly.

My husband has already called 999 and they've already done some tests to establish what's wrong with me.

We're waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

I think in this moment that I might be dying.

I'm trying to tell my husband how much I love him and that I'm sorry this is happening - not really sure why I was apologising!

My husband is trying to calm me down, and in one moment he says something that will change everything for me.

He tells me to use my Yoga breathing.

This changes the moment for me from one of terror and something uncontrollable happening to me, to one of hope and calmness.

Here, in this moment is something I can control. I can control my breathing to help calm me down.

I can deepen my inhalation and lengthen my exhalation allowing me to settle and handle this situation better.

It didn't take away that I was having a stroke but it sure did help me to deal with it in a better way.

So this is my reminder to you today. Use your breath to help you through any challenges that may arise.

Take a deep breath in and a long exhalation and feel your body release it's tension.

Drop me a note in the comments, what have you been using your breath to help you through?

You need to be extremely proud for not giving up on yourself, especially if life seems to be getting harder or more challenging.

You have to be proud of yourself for not giving up on YOU because if you can always fight for your survival, then you’ll overcome anything in this world.

And if you can always find a way to leave behind your past or your mistakes or your wrongdoings without letting them define you, then you’ll be able to mend your broken pieces time and time again.

Let’s talk about it

I’m looking for 2 women who have been hit by life’s challenges (whether that’s a stroke or something else) and can’t seem to find a way forwards.

I’ll work with you on a 121 basis for 1 hour a week for 4 weeks. As I'm just testing this out I'm doing this at a reduced rate.

What I can offer you during the 4 weeks is a safe space to explore what’s happening for you. We’ll get into your body, we’ll look at how you feel on a daily basis, the beliefs you have about yourself and your situation and how these may be impacting your life.

You’ll leave the 4 weeks with:

🌿 A clearer understanding of how to deal with your thoughts and beliefs

🌿 An ability to shift yourself into a feeling of stability and strength

🌿 Some new tools to help you to deal with challenges in life

So how does this sound? Fancy coming along?

If you'd like some more information drop the word CHALLENGES in the comments and I'll send you a DM 😊

Do come along if you can. I’ll be there to listen to what you feel you need for better wellbeing đŸ„°

75% of su***des are men

12 men a day complete su***de

84 men a week in the U.K. take their own lives.

Let’s just think about that for a second.........

“Man up”

“boys don’t cry”

“nice guys finish last”

These are just some of the unhelpful and damaging messages that almost all boys will hear early on in their lives.

The messages come from all directions, and these reinforcing and toxic messages continue through adolescence and into adulthood. Is it any wonder so many of us men are unable to open up about our feelings and mental health?

We are at the beginning of an exciting, major cultural shift in how we think about mental health, self-care and mental illness as a country. And we need to be thinking about the impact of gender, gender expectations and gender identity every step of the way if we are going to make the much needed changes in our society.

Let’s be really clear......

right now, there is a major crisis in men’s mental health and wellbeing. Too many men still find it difficult to speak openly about their feelings, worries, and mental health struggles.

Research has shown that this feeling is often most prevalent in the workplace, with 40% of men reporting they would prefer to hide any such issues from senior management, owing to the fear of being told to “man up” and/or their career being negatively impacted.

Let’s start the conversation today, let’s end the shame and squash the stigma attached to men’s mental health.

Let’s talk about it
