It was eye opening to be a part of this incredible feat of stamina. What you don't see in this short video is the hours upon hours of horrendous weather that very nearly put a stop to the whole adventure on multiple occasions. Rich and the team were so determined though, and despite that last shot of them passing through the final gate they were beyond exhausted. You can even peep our PM21 at the end in which Paramedic Adam spent a very long day leapfrogging the group to make sure medical support was never far away.

Follow Richard the ranger and his dog, from sunrise to sunset, as he attempts to run the length of the South Devon coast in a single day – all 54 miles (88km...

Some advice on flu (and other winter bugs) from Registered Manager Adam, who also works as an Infection Prevention and Control Professional for the NHS.

"Infection rates of Flu are rising rapidly, and this puts our most vulnerable polulations such as the elderly, very young, and immunocompromised people at great risk of severe illness or worse. There are also high rates of other respiratory infections as well as Diarrhoea and Vomiting. Thankfully we can do some simple things to drastically reduce the spread of infection and keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.

1. Wash your hands frequently, especially before and after eating, drinking, or going to the toilet. Use soap and water whenever possible, but if you can't then use hand disinfectant rub. You should then use soap and water at the next opportunity.
Why? - Most respiratory and stomach illnesses can be spread on handles such as doors, fridges and cupboards, as well as hard surfaces, kettles and toilet flush handles/ buttons.

2. While infection rates are high, consider wearing a fluid repellant (surgical) mask in public. Some acute healthcare settings such as Emergency Departments and Minor Injuries Units are asking you to wear a mask at all times while in the department to help reduce the spread.
Why? - Most respiratory illnesses (such as colds, flu and Covid) are spread by droplets from your airways, and these masks reduce the chance of droplets landing on your nose or mouth when someone coughs or sneezes in your direction. Remember that these masks are not supposed to be tight fitting as they are not intended to filter anything, just stop the droplets from lanfding on your face, so they should not cause difficulty breathing. Masks such as FFP3 and KN95 are intended to be filters, but only work if they are fitted perfectly to your face which is a difficult thing to achieve, and they are not necessary for most diseases as they are not airborne (airborne means that they stay floating in the air for a long time like a gas).

3. Keep your distance. If you don't need to be up close and personal, then try to maintain a distance of 2 meters/ 6 feet, particularly from someone who is facing you.
Why? - The droplets which carry infectious particles will tend to fall to the ground within this distance so they won't land on you.

4. If you're sick or vulnerable, try to stay home while infection rates are high. If you are coughing, sneezing, have had vomiting or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours then you should stay at home to prevent passing your illness on to someone else. If you are clinically vulnerable because you are immunosuppressed, or unable to wear a mask, then you should consider staying at home to protect yourself.

5. Check in on the people described above. Remember what it was like trying to get groceries, medication and company during the COVID lockdowns. A little effort goes a long way to making sure everyone gets what they need and has a better chance of getting better quickly."

We appear to be getting a bit of a reputation for getting wet and muddy! As well as supporting Woodland Riders Racing, we will also be trekkiing up some hills for River Dart Enduro next season.

From the team that brought you the Ashcombe Mini DH, we are stoked to announce the River Dart Enduro. On March 15th 2026 a new, 4 stage MTB Enduro race in the South West, will be hosted at the beautiful River Dart Country Park.

Bringing enduro racing to Dartmoor for the first time, our dig team have been hard at work building 4 brand new fresh cut stages. These cannot be ridden prior to the event as this is all hosted on private land.

River Dart Country Park is a fantastic holiday destination on its own, with preferential camping rates available for racers. Come make a weekend of it with the family and explore the whole park.

The team is heading into another busy weekend, albeit with some "interesting" weather forecast.

On saturday we'll be providing Paramedic-led Ambulance support to Exeter Chiefs Women alongside Toadpit Medical Services who provide the crowd first aid cover.
We'll also have a team supporting Saltash Christmas Festival alongside Diverse Events CIC

On sunday we're back at Exeter Chiefs again for a Mens game, as well as a team out in the woods for Woodland Riders Racing Downhill Mountainbike racing near Tavistock.

Let's hope nobody meets the Wicked Witch of the West!
