A couple of weeks ago I arrived at the woods for Together in Nature, my adult session, to find the remains of what must have been a huge fire in the Forest School area. I’m not sure who had done it, but they left us a great big mess and had burnt our entire wood pile, pallets and a tree stump which we use frequently. Our entire water butt was emptied which on one hand was a good thing - definitely glad the fire didn’t spread - but on the other hand meant there was no water left for mud kitchen play.

BUT

We made the best of a bad situation: cleared up as much as we could, particular thanks go to Natalie; and then at Nature Explorers on Monday, we used the charcoal to draw pictures.

Please treat Pennygillam Community Woodland with respect. It is used and loved by many. I have training, insurance and permission to have fires in the Forest School area. If you would like to enjoy fire there, please book onto a session or hire me to run one just for you.

There is something wonderful about fire. At Together in Nature, my group for adults, we gathered around the fire enjoying the dancing flames, the crackling sound, the smell and the warmth. Thankyou for joining me.

I hope to hold more sessions but may well switch to a Saturday. Would this appeal to you? If so, let me know what time works best for you in the comments. (Please don’t suggest anything before 10am, I am not a morning person 😂)

I’m quite excited about this one! A special session for families considering home education and those who have recently deregistered. As an experienced leader of groups for home educated children, a home ed mum (one child from the get go and another who I deregistered) and mum of a neurodivergent child who has struggled to attend mainstream school, I have a wealth of personal knowledge and experience.

This is you opportunity to come and ask questions, meet other home ed families and hear about other local home ed provisions.

To make this session accessible to everyone, I have 4 different pricing options when you book, including no cost.

If you are an experienced home ed family who would like to share your knowledge, please message me before booking so I can ensure we have a good balance of new families and experienced.

I’m actually feeling quite sad to make this post - our last Nature Explorers of this academic year.

It has been such a pleasure to facilitate this special group and we have had so many wonderful moments. Today we ended with this amazing new ninja slack set, made apple crumble (no more cherries in reaching distance on the wild cherry trees) and did some charcoal drawing. The fairy doors will be continued on Wednesday at Together in Nature for adults and we can’t wait to tell you all about them!
