Next Sunday we will be heading up our first ever Defib Derby, 2-5pm at Tretherras School, Newquay.

Each player will get free life support training from Kernow Training Solutions and a couple of games of social football, all free thanks to funding from Renfrew Wealth Management.

Whilst we would hope nothing happens at one of our sessions, if it does we want to be in the best position possible to act positively.

The risk of heart attack raises with age (especially from 45 in men, and 55 in women), we have many players in the group. That’s why this training is vital, as we never know who it might save.

Great day last week running a bespoke EFAW course for a local group with some emphasis on outdoor first aid and supporting a casualty.
Really good day and seemed a shame to waste the sun so did parts of the course outdoors for a dose of vitamin D! ☀️

Pleased to be helping United Cornwall FC with their Defib Derby AED awareness event next month.

Defib derby:

On Sunday 6th July we will be putting on a “Defib Derby,” at Tretherras School, Newquay. The idea is to have a mixture of social football and hands on defib and CPR experience, to up-skill our players in the event of an emergency (either at our sessions or out in the community).

The training will be provided by Kernow Training Solutions, and the event has been made possible thanks to sponsorship by Renfree Wealth Management.

We are looking for a limited number of coaches, refs or players from across the Cornwall footballing community to get involved. To top up your defib and CPR experience.

Are you set up to text 999 in an emergency?

It's a simple process and well worth doing - imagine trying to call 999 Police to get MR if you're stuck in a storm and can't hear anything or there's hardly any signal.

There's a link on our website (see graphic for link) but here are the steps. Please to sort this now as you MUST REGISTER YOUR MOBILE NUMBER before you can use it.

1. Register your mobile - Text the word 'register' to 999.
You'll need to register again if you change your mobile number.
2. Read the message - You’ll get an automatic text reply. Please read it all.
3. Reply to the message - Read the message and then reply by texting ‘yes’.
4. Get a 'success' text - You'll then get a text telling you that your mobile is now registered - or if there's been a problem …

If you're not sure and need to check if you're registered - Text 'register' to 999 and you'll get a message telling you if it's registered or not. Don't text anything else - there's no need to make a test call.

Absolute blast for the last couple of days with the Broadstone Team updating their onsite H&S training and machinery use.
The skies were blue and the team were brilliant. Thanks also for the Brazilian brigadeiro - I’m still buzzing off of the pure sugar content 🤣
