We have finally got around to making our Christmas donation to Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation charity!
They really are fantastic, rescuing and rehabilitating thousands of animals every year! 🥹 Unfortunately, with the increase in casualties they are receiving, they are no longer able to meet their financial demands. This is a very concerning time for the charity. Being the only wildlife charity in the area which takes all wild animals in 24/7, we need to support them. We will be getting our thinking caps on as to how we can raise funds later this year to support them. In the meantime, if you would like to make a donation to support them (or even set up a monthly direct debit), you can do so via their website: https://www.valewildlife.org.uk/membership/ 🥰🌸

In the Chinese 5 Elements model, winter is associated with the Water element, symbolising reflection, stillness, and endings. This season invites us to turn inward, nurturing our mental, emotional, and physical selves.

Mentally: Winter encourages us to slow down and contemplate. This is a perfect time to assess our goals and align them with our true desires. Allow yourself the space to pause and think deeply about what you want to cultivate in this new year.

Emotionally: The Water element is linked to our emotions. It’s natural to feel a bit more introspective during winter, which can bring both clarity and heaviness. Embrace this emotional landscape by practicing self-compassion and being gentle with yourself. Recognise the value of your feelings, and allow them to guide you toward deeper understanding.

Physically: Winter is a time for rest and rejuvenation. Just as nature hibernates, so too should we honour our bodies with adequate rest and nourishment. This season is ideal for cozying up with warm meals, engaging in gentle exercise, and prioritising sleep.

As we step into 2025, we wish you a year filled with peace, joy, and abundant wellness. The start of a new year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our journey and set intentions for the months ahead.

Setting Goals for 2025

Resolutions are promises we make to better ourselves. We know we need them, and often it is easy for us to come up with new year's resolutions, but less easy for us to stick to them in the long haul. Here are a few tips that will help you to embed new habits successfully.

1. Prioritise Your Goals: Focus on one or two key goals rather than overwhelming yourself with a long list. Identify what matters most to you this year and concentrate your efforts there.
2. Be Realistic: While it’s great to aim high, setting goals that are too ambitious can lead to disappointment. Consider what is realistically attainable within your current circumstances, and break larger goals into manageable steps.
3. Avoid an 'all or nothing' mentality: It might feel necessary to say, "I am going to cut out all wine, chocolate, biscuits [insert other]", or, "I am going to exercise 5 times a week", knowing full well we are going to find this very challenging. We know life is all about balance so cut yourself some slack and give yourself some tolerance e.g. "I will look forward to one glass of wine on Friday night", or "I will enjoy a chocolate treat on a Saturday evening". That way, you give yourself some wriggle room and reduce mental strain.
4. Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. This practice boosts motivation and reinforces positive habits.
5. Reflect and Reassess Regularly: Set aside time each month to reflect on your progress. This allows you to celebrate successes and make adjustments to your goals if necessary.

Here we have suggested some simple resolutions to help make the year ahead a little more bearable than the one we are leaving behind courtesy of The School of Life:-
- Worry a little less
- Look at things through other people's eyes
- Go to bed earlier
- Call our parents more
- Go somewhere new
- Spend time looking at clouds
- Think through anxieties

Claire is very pleased to announce that she has recently become professionally accredited through the UK Reiki Federation (UKRF). As the largest Reiki-only professional organisation in the UK and Europe they set the highest standard for Reiki.

Whilst Reiki is becoming more and more popular as more people experience the great benefits for themselves, there is a long way to go yet for it to become well known and acknowledged in the mainstream. The UKRF aims to bring Reiki into the mainstream so that there is a general understanding of what Reiki is and how it can be of benefit to all, something which Claire is also very passionate about 🌸

For those of you who don't know, I enjoy learning bellydancing on the side, with amazing Chinese dancer Jamilah, who now resides in Leamington (aren't we lucky!) Jamilah is putting on an amazing night of bollywood and bellydance. We have international dance masters performing as well as local dance enthusiasts and students (including yours truly).
