Gold was the original metal of choice for braces! 🏺
The Egyptians, Phoenicians, and Etruscans used gold wire and bands to straighten teeth thousands of years ago. By the 1900s, gold became popular among orthodontists because it was easy to shape and flexible enough for early braces.

Luckily, modern orthodontics here at LSO is far more comfortable and efficient… but we still love a little dental history!

At your appointment, our clinician reviews your progress and clinical records, explains the plan for the day, and carries out any necessary procedures. All questions are answered and your comfort is a priority before you leave. Once the session is complete, the next appointment is scheduled. For our younger patients, parents are always welcome to join the discussion.
