"Jonathan Lee replied to my email very quickly, actually at 22:00 in the evening. I was in a lot of pain, so this was much appreciated. I was seen by Jelena Kosoric, who was very good. She explained the options to me in a clear way and the pros and cons of each ("try and save the tooth" or "remove it and have an implant"). I made my decision after seeing her. I actually saw two dentists beforehand, so it was overkill to see a third, but my surgeon recommended I see an endodontist specialist, so I did. The first dentist didn't give me any information to make an informed decision; they just gave me some antibiotics and told me to get it taken out. My regular dentist spent time with me and is good, but they didn't explain the pros and cons of trying a root canal to save the tooth, simply saying it wasn't worth it. Jelena gave me a better explanation which allowed me to make a more informed choice. In the end, all three dentists essentially advised me towards the same option for my long-term oral health, which was to remove the tooth, but it was the manner in which the information was delivered and the quality and quantity of information provided which made the difference. Some people will follow anything a professional says, whereas some, like me, want to understand the options before making a decision.
