Bibiry trout farm was a real hit for an outing today from feeding the fish as they lept out of the water, ducks eating out of our hands and lunch under the most beautifully designed parasol. 💕 A lovely day interacting with nature, good for the soul ☺️

💕What a wonderful service, contact St Lawrence church for more information. 💕

Day 2 complete
Today’s 6.5k marks my first set of blisters… apparently sliders weren’t a sensible option 🤦‍♀️
Couples picnicked along the river, young cows were inquisitive and monks walk looked like the reminance of a foam party with dandelion seeds ☺️
A couple of swift pit stops whilst passing through the high street before walking home…

CELEBRATING THE 80th ANNIVERSARY OF VE DAY
SAVE THE DATE

Four organisations in Fairford are working together to organise a commemoration the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Fairford Cricket Club, Fairford Steam Show, Fairford Town Council and the Royal British Legion (Fairford branch) will be inviting everyone along over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday May 10 and 11 to the grounds of Fairford Cricket Club to enjoy a Picnic in the Park and more.

Eighty years ago, on May 8, 1945, VE (Victory in Europe) Day Germany unconditionally surrendered leading to widespread celebrations as it meant an end to nearly six years of war.

It was not possible to celebrate VE Day’s last milestone anniversary – 75 years since the end of World War II – due to the Covid pandemic and lockdown.

So come along to Fairford Cricket Club on from 7pm on Saturday night May 10 for an outside cinema; a host of classic vehicles, steam exhibits, wartime vehicles, history displays from the Fairford History Society, fancy/period dress and a pay bar.

On Sunday May 11, celebrations will start at 1pm in Fairford Cricket Club grounds for a free family picnic in the park. Bring your own picnic and chairs, but not alcohol, as there is a pay bar available. There’ll also be free hot dogs for kids and a tea party for seniors. Between 3pm-4pm Chedworth Silver Band will be playing wartime classics like White Cliffs of Dover, We’ll Meet Again and more and the Gary Bell Band will also supply some nostalgic 1940s musical entertainment accompanied by the choir of Fairford Primary School.

There is no charge to come along and enjoy the celebrations.
