This weekend I was supposed to run 100km at Race to the Stones. I completed it two years ago feeling disappointed in my time which basically came down to a lack of running.
Back in May, I damaged my MCL. The solution is to rest. A normal day consists of over 20000 steps, I hate sitting still and I love being active. In the early stages I wasn’t even able to walk Eugene or take the boys to school. I am gutted to not be able to run but had a great walk and picnic instead with the boys before the tennis.
It is having a very negative effect on my mental health.
Combine this with disappointing “big picture” life news and on goes 5kg… A mixture of emotional eating and drinking. Also not adjusting calories where I was moving less.
I’m 2 months in and I am walking and cycling again. I can do the aqua fit class (with less gusto) in the water and I have lost 3kg through mindful eating and drinking.
Recovering from an injury is hard. I am not a very patient person but I will get there and will come back stronger and faster… In the meantime at least I have Novak and Carlos to show me how it’s done.
It’s all about mindset. Finding it can be hard when you feel so lost but it’s not impossible. 💥🖤
