END OF AN ERA // This Wednesday was my last day at Bosbury Primary School. It was a VERY emotional day, and as requested by my phonics group I wore all my rainbows 🌈

I’ve been a TA for 15 years (9 at Bosbury, 6 at Suckley) and during this time have grown as a person and as a professional, and made lifelong friends. Most of all I will miss supporting, teaching, having fun with the children, and working in the Rainbow Room … as well as having the daily interaction with the team, and creating displays 🦊

I’m not the only one who’ll miss Bosbury … Otto will miss his daily morning walks, playing fetch at breaks, having snuggles, chilling and wondering around the classroom, supporting children in the Rainbow Room, and being chief floor cleaner after lunch. Although he’ll still be working with children, it won’t be quite the same 🐾

On Wednesday, there was a school assembly for me, during which the head asked the school to put their hands up if I’d supported them / made a difference to them. The majority of the school put their hands up including some staff. To me that meant everything … and broke me - a lot of ugly crying 🤭 That is what I want to do … to make a difference 🌟

I first became a TA so that I could be there for my children before and after school and during the holidays. They are now 18 and 21, and my head and heart are with being more mentally and emotionally available for them, and supporting children and their families in The Pods 🧠

Now starts a new chapter. Podding full time. I will be spending more time at my Pod at as well as continuing to support children at my home Pod. I have a few ideas to grow the business, but for now it’s time to reset and recharge ❤️🫛✨

(The track I’ve chosen to go with this post is my favourite song the children sing in assembly. Makes my heart smile 🥰)

WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY // I was talking to my mother yesterday about menopause, HRT etc, and it made me realise how lucky us ladies are these days with having so much out there to support us through this emotional, mental and physical rollercoaster🎢

A few weeks ago, I went to see Josh Widdicombe at the wonderful Malvern Theatre and very embarrassingly my phone alarm went off at 9pm. The whole theatre fell silent and Josh asked me what the alarm was for. I didn’t have to tell him the truth … but I did. And Josh has gone on to talk about it on BBC Radio 2 and tell Rob Beckett about it on their Parenting Hell podcast 💪🏼

Menopause needs to be spoken about. Everyone needs to know about it … women can be supported, young women can be prepared, men and children can understand so they realise we’re not bat sh*t crazy and need empathy and love. Own your menopause and don’t be scared to talk about it or ask for help ❤️

NEW BEGINNINGS // Look how the outbuildings (including my new Pod) are coming along. Soooooo exciting! Annoyingly, I’ve been absolutely useless at taking a photo a day of the project, but trying to juggle two jobs, three work places, running a business and house, being a mum, wife and everything else has got in the way and taken its toll.

So last week, when I was up until 1.30am doing Pod admin, I thought enough is enough. Time for a change and for a leap of faith … and so I wrote my (and Otto’s) letter of resignation.

I’ve been a TA for almost 15 years (9 of which at my current primary school) and from this have gained confidence, knowledge, experience, lifelong friends, and time to be with my children. When I leave next month I shall be incredibly sad, especially to say goodbye to the children, but also know that the next chapter will be an exciting one, focusing on Peapods & Stars, with new challenges, new strings to my bow, and more well-needed me time 🫛✨

PERSEVERANCE // This project has taken time, patience, perseverance, teamwork, determination, and some serious problem solving (mainly technical issues and errors) but the fabulous Pea and I did it. Stranger Things Top Trumps! I’m so proud of him, and going by the big smile on his face, I think he’s very proud too 🥰🫛✨

Very annoyingly my Instagram posts no longer automatically post on here, so apologies for being a little distant recently.

Something VERY exciting started a couple of weeks ago … the demolition and rebuild of our outbuildings … part of which will become my new Pod.

I’ll keep you updated of the progress , along with what’s been going on in the current Pod. Exciting times ahead 🤩🫛✨

BREATHE // The Easter holidays are here and the sun is shining … and I’m still in my pjs pottering. This Spring term seems to have gone on FOREVER!!!

It’s been wonderfully happy and busy in the Pods … a couple of weeks ago it was Mother’s Day and the Peas made some wonderful cards, and since then (with Easter nearly upon us) Easter treats have been in the making 🐣

A lot of people think how is this therapy by baking and creating?!? By engaging the creative side of the brain, it strengthens the bridge (corpus collasum) to the thinking / logical / language brain. It also, and very importantly, supports a relationship to build and in turn trust 🧩

By working alongside each other, focusing on a creative activity, it gives a safe space to open up, chat, explore and support any struggles the Peas are dealing with. Connection is key 🧠

And in other news … in readiness for the hot weather, I now have a Summer Pod (aka The Coddington Circus) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The Pod gets stupidly hot in the summer (as it is a conservatory), so this will be wonderful to use until the new Pod is built 🎪🫛✨

EXPANDING // I’ve been a bit quiet on here as life has become a wee bit busier than before … in a good way. Five years ago, Peapods and Stars was founded and I never thought it would take off as it has. I’m extremely excited to announce that I now have a second Pod 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I was approached by a local prep school to open a Pod on their premises, to support their pupils and families. I was absolutely thrilled, especially as I’m an ex-pupil (from MANY years ago) and being back here has brought back so many happy and funny memories.

Pod sessions started last week and the children I’ve been working with are an absolute delight. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Pod grows and making a difference 🫛✨

ARR-ARGGGHHHH // I love fancy dress. I love reading stories to children … especially with voices. So today was a GREAT day … World Book Day! I read to a group of children the book The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Duddle, followed by The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet by Tom Fletcher & Dougie Poynter.

Reading has so many benefits, so to encourage children to enjoy books is incredibly important. These benefits include …

📕Learning and intellectual growth
📙Improve vocabulary, comprehension and communication
📔Develop empathy and compassion
📗Inspired innovation
📘Understand the world we live in and with those we share it with
📕Reduce stress and anxiety
📙Improve sleep, concentration and focus
📔Increase self-esteem

Also important for us adults too! 📚🫛✨

FEELINGS // Children get angry and frustrated if they can’t verbalise how they are feeling, and many don’t recognise the sensations that accompany these feelings. With the help of the fantastic book In My Heart - A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek, we looked at and thought about our different emotions and created some wonderful, creative pieces ❤️🫛✨
