We do love a bit of healthy competition here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury and what better way to improve hand to eye coordination than with a good old fashioned game of ! 🎳

Residents and staff had a fun-filled time together, filled with lots of joy and laughter - the perfect way to add some cheer to a dull and drizzly day. 😊

Many of our ladies and gents are keen and curious and always look forward to any opportunity they can to connect with nature, in both our local area and further afield.

So we were delighted to treat Jean, Jane, Mary and Nigel to a tropical trip out to Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, where they walked and talked amongst exotic butterflies from around the world. 🦋 🐛

They were in their element as they got to see butterflies up close using large magnifying glasses, 🔍 learn about the many varieties of these incredible winged creatures and complete the outing with a cuppa and homemade cake in IzzysCafe! ☕🧁

Today we were delighted to finally present Lee Gough, Development Director at Megan Baker House (MBH) with a cheque for £366, which we raised at our recent summer barbecue.

MBH provides sessions for children and adults with motor disorders such as ,
(DCD), , and , and other movement disorders. 💙🩷

Through conductive education, participants learn how to manage and deal with the difficulties caused by their condition to enable them to lead a more independent life.

Megan Baker House is a charity close to our hearts and we are thrilled to announce that our Client Services Manger Viv, pictured here alongside Lee, has become an ambassador for this valuable, independent charity, alongside existing ambassador Suki Pantal of Suki's curries and spices. 😊

As we step further into Autumn and the weather gets a little chillier, we decided to decided to give our residents a sweet treat, with a trip to Choccotastic, based in . 🍂🚐

Pictured here are Brenda and Jane, alongside minibus driver Bobby, who were given a very warm welcome by owner Heather and her team. 🤎

This local , cafe and made for the perfect afternoon out, and we're already looking forward to our next visit - it was a chocca-lotta fun! 🍫

Yesterday we launched our annual collection in aid of Ledbury Food Bank 🥫🧃 🧴

This vital charity is run by passionate volunteers who believe that nobody should go hungry and work hard to support those in need in our community.

From 1st - 15th October a Donation Station will be located in our reception area - if you can please consider donating any of the following:

Here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury our residents always enjoy exploring the local area, and we are blessed that our home is situated in such beautiful market town, with its wide array of independent businesses and places of interest. 🏞️

Pictured here are Anne, Jane, Nigel and Chris who recently took an excursion into town with Bus Driver Bobby and Passenger Care Assistant, for a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Tudor cobbled street of Church Lane, followed by a visit to St Michael and All Angels Ledbury church. 🚶⛪

This particular church holds a special place in our hearts, as the Reverend Michael Gallagher regularly visits our home to give a . ✝️

Last week, a handful of our head chefs took a trip to The Bertinet Kitchen Cookery School for a bread-making class with the marvellous Richard Bertinet himself! 🥖

Richard led a wonderfully informative class and provided our chefs with a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills. As you can see, they produced some delectable loaves, tarts and rolls, which they are already looking forward to recreating for our residents!

It's no secret that here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury, we do love a good fundraiser and last Friday was no different, as we held a Magical !🪄 ✨

We enjoyed plenty of coffee and homemade cakes, held a raffle to win some fantastic prizes and many of us also took part in the initiative, which together helped us raise over £200 for . ☕ 🧁

The highlight of the morning was a spellbinding performance by the super talented Patrick Aitchison Magician, who wowed our residents, staff and guests with his extraordinary close-up magic!♠️♦️ ♣️ ♥️

The atmosphere was full of joy and laughter, the magic landed beautifully, and the reactions were priceless!

It certainly made for a and once again we put the FUN into fundraising. Our lovely resident Hilary summed it up perfectly, "This was the best coffee morning I've ever been to, it was magic!"✨
