We had lots of fun today here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury playing Guess Who and Scrabble. Then later on, complete novices, Alesa and Anne, decided to have a go at weaving for beginners. With a couple of false starts and much hilarity, the end result was quite a success!

This National Activity Providers and Professionals Week, we would like to show our appreciation for our exceptional activity providers, who work hard to organise and lead exciting and engaging activities for our residents.

Our activity coordinators are great at getting to know our residents and providing activities that are tailored towards their individual interests, ensuring everybody has the opportunity to do what they love.

Did you know that someone who loves cheese is actually called a turophile?

To celebrate National Cheese Lovers Day today we held a cheese & wine tasting evening here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury. We had speciality cheeses Little Hereford, Roquefort, Perl Las, Yoredale and Isle of Mull from The Cheese Pantry along with some of the classics all accompanied by a talk from Leanne who is a much loved member of our care team along with being very knowledgeable about all things cheese.

Today here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury we have been celebrating the incredible talents of Dolly Parton on her 80th birthday. Our residents have had a wonderful time watching Steel Magnolias in our cinema and playing a word association game to see what they think of when they see the name Dolly Parton. Tonight we will be treated to an online showing in our lounges of an HBO special of one of Dolly's concerts in London.

We know how important it is to stay connected with those we care about, so every day at 3pm our team members pause what they are doing to spend one-on-one time with our residents. Whether going for a walk in the garden, playing a game of chess or enjoying a simple cup of tea, these moments of connection are beneficial for everybody.

Here at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury we are both proud and delighted to have been able to present a donation of over £400 to LEAF (Locally Encouraging All to Thrive - https://www.leafledbury.com) who are a wonderful charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing of people in the local community.

The money was raised from our Christmas Fayre via our stall holders, generous donations for refreshments and tickets sold for the raffle so we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the event, held a stall or donated a raffle prize.
