I specialise in reducing the risk of heart disease and working with clients, diagnosed with coronary heart disease (CHD), requiring support to follow prescribed health goals. In the UK, 88% of us understand that lifestyle is the main cause of chronic disease and we want to know how to take control of our health but only 18.5% feel confident to take control on our own (UKHCA & TalkHealth, 2019). As an educator and Certified Health Coach, I am here to support you to live that life you desire, and hit those health goals you want to achieve- and keep them for life! I work with clients to gain back that control and to feel confident in making sustained heart healthy lifestyle changes. These lifestyle changes can be to reduce your chances of developing coronary heart disease (CHD) or to manage diagnosed CHD. I can work alongside your health practitioner, such as a GP, to support you to follow prescribed health goals. Clients with CHD often seek guidance to:

• deepen your understanding of CHD & its impact on your life and body
• feel good and energised again
• lose weight and feel more mobile
• find and participate in an enjoyable activity;
• live a life with less stress
• reduce high blood pressure (hypertension);
• reduce cholesterol levels;
• learn how to shop healthily and cook simple, healthy, tasty meals

There's no better time than now to STOP counting calories. Do you do that to lose weight? Has it worked for you? There are many ways to lose weight but sometimes, you just need to simplify things. Here are reasons why not to count calories:
it can lead you to be nutrient deficient and underfueled
it doesn't empower you to make healthy nutritious choices
it doesn't allow you to create new healthy habits or introduce new foods and recipes into your life
it's not fun :-)

And let's not forget for 2023 as you make a start on your health goals- "Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 10. We all start somewhere!"
Today, I was trail running up and down Butser Hill (training for the Snowdon Marathon in July- eek) and met a lady who was out of breathe and sitting down half way up Butser. As I paused to open the gate, she said- wow, how do you run up that hill? I replied, I have trained. There will be someone else saying to you- wow, how did you walk up Butser hill? It's all relative but the key is we all start somewhere...and that lady did make it to the top in her own time and she felt soooo happy! Amazing accomplishment. Just keep going everyone :-)

Gosh I have been so quiet on this page. I have never been good at social media and tend to opt for the face to face or phone conversations! Some people just need a little help sometimes...One of my clients is struggling in the heat but without the finance to buy a fan at the moment- so a lovely lady from Lee on the Solent has donated a fan she no longer uses to help! Just a little bit of kindness goes a long way :-)

Wow- a day of work satisfaction. I became a vegetarian when I was 8. My mom and dad, being avid meat eaters, did not know how to cook for me as I grew up and we tended to eat a lot of ready made meals as a result. It was easier and lives were busy (so no blame on them). I grew up knowing only how to cook using a microwave and took this into my teenage years as well as 20s....until I moved to Italy. When I moved to Italy, I was first horrified that I had no microwave (!) and 2nd, italian supermarkets didn't have a lot of ready made frozen meals (sadly times have changed though)- eek. I ate a lot of great pizza (!), but over time, I had to learn how to cook from scratch and my italian friends introduced me to a lot of tasty recipes :-) Learning from friends and eating together has been brilliant. The reason I say this is because today, I worked with a client to introduce a new healthy recipe into their lives.. halloumi salad. You could argue cheese is not good for you but when you look at this individual's starting point of takeaway food- this is a positive and BIG step forward. A recipe chosen by her to remind of her home in Cyprus. After going with her to the shop to build her confidence, learn more about healthy foods, support her cooking and chopping of veg, we both ate in the sun in the garden and she said she was so happy. Now, that is what I call job satisfaction- small things in life...
