There’s less than a week to our Summer fair at Anchor - Oulton Manor

We have some amazing local stalls from:
The Crafty Fox, My Style Therapy, The Jam Lady, Diane Squires, The Crafty Northerner, Sheila Byers, Gina Gee and some country and western entertainment from Nigel Rae Music. We will also have a tombola, stalls from our home and residents, an amazing raffle and food and refreshments available to purchase on the day. We really hope you will join us 🤠

A huge thank you to the Morley And District Concert Band for playing for us tonight at Anchor - Oulton Manor.

The Calverley Lounge was full, and it was absolutely wonderful to have some live evening entertainment. You brought such a lovely atmosphere and so many smiles to our residents and guests❤️

Shaun West, Chef Manager from Kingfisher Court was our 2025 Chef of the Year winner. He won with a menu of:

Pan fried mushrooms, madeira garlic cream on homemade toasted bread for starters
Pan fried chicken breast, red wine bacon & mushroom sauce, garlic & thyme roasted baby potatoes, sauteed green beans, roasted carrots for the main meal
White chocolate & raspberry cheesecake with raspberry coulis and a white choc & raspberry shard with burnt white choc crumb.

Shaun was delighted to win, saying:

"Winning the Chef of the Year competition means a lot to me. Lots of hard work and thought went into my menu, and it’s been both a high pressure and enjoyable experience being involved in the competition. I’m very proud of challenging myself and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone."

A massive congratulations to Shaun and all the chefs who competed this year. Also a massive well done to Catering Apprentice Logan Shamim Ahmed of Anchor - Madeleine House who won our Catering Challenge 👏

Residents at Anchor - The Manor House Knaresborough in Yorkshire have been experiencing the magic of having their bucket list dreams turned into reality. Thanks to the home’s dedicated team going above and beyond, the residents’ long-held wishes have come true.

Resident David had always wanted to ride a steam train, and with careful planning, the team at The Manor House Knaresborough were able to make that happen. David enjoyed a scenic train ride across the Yorkshire Dales, with others from the home.

Susan, another resident at The Manor House Knaresborough, was born in Ireland. She always dreamt of returning, so the team brought Ireland to her, transforming the home into a vibrant celebration of Irish culture.

Priors Hall Care Home in Corby recently opened its doors for the latest gathering of its Community Lunch Club - a vibrant afternoon of friendship, food, and shared stories designed to bring together people from across the local area.

The gathering offered a wonderful chance for local neighbours and familiar faces to reconnect. Three Priors Hall residents were especially thrilled to welcome a friend from nearby Priors Hall Park and before the afternoon ended, they exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch beyond the event.

We had a lovely morning at Anchor - Oulton Manor when we had a special visit from the Marks and Spencer Archive Team.

Residents were taken on a fascinating trip down memory lane as they explored the rich history of one of the UK’s most iconic retailers. The archive team brought along a treasure trove of M&S memorabilia filled with vintage clothing and accessories.

It was an amazing interactive experience, with residents sharing their own memories of shopping at M&S over the years and one lady telling us how she used to work there. Watching our residents so engaged, laughing and reminiscing together was so good to see.

A huge thank you to Briony from the at M&S Archive for bringing history to life in such a meaningful and personal way, we loved it 🥰

🌿💜 Earlier this week at Anchor - Oulton Manor we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some lovely students from Oulton Academy to spend time with our residents.

The young visitors brought some wonderful energy and kindness as they joined our residents in a relaxing and creative activity, making lavender bags using freshly cut lavender from our very own grounds.

The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the calming scent of lavender as generations came together to create something beautiful to sell at our upcoming Summer Fair

A huge thank you to the students and staff at Oulton Academy for such a heartwarming visit, your presence made our day extra special. We look forward to seeing you all again soon! 🫶

Today we say a fond farewell to Jodie, who is leaving us after six and a half years at Oulton Manor.
