“My GP told me HRT was my only option.”
This was slightly different to what we usually hear from patients.
Often women come to us because they can’t access HRT or have been told it isn’t suitable for them.
But today I saw a patient who came in feeling dismissed for a different reason.
She had been struggling with brain fog, fatigue and hormonal symptoms, and when she went to her GP she felt the conversation quickly moved to one option — HRT.
Now, HRT can be an excellent treatment for many women.
But not every woman wants to take it — and that choice still deserves to be heard, respected and supported.
So we spent time talking through other ways to support her symptoms safely.
We discussed things like:
🌱 Phyto-oestrogen foods
Such as soy, flaxseed and lentils, which have a mild oestrogen-like effect in the body.
☕ Reducing caffeine and alcohol
Which can worsen symptoms like anxiety, poor sleep and hot flushes.
🏋️♀️ Strength training and exercise
Which support brain health, muscle mass, energy and long-term metabolic health.
🍄 Lion’s Mane
A mushroom supplement that may support cognitive function and brain fog in some women.
(Although it’s not suitable for everyone — particularly if you have mushroom allergies, autoimmune conditions or take certain medications.)
Lifestyle changes won’t replace HRT for everyone.
But they can make a meaningful difference to symptoms like fatigue, brain fog and mood.
Most importantly, women deserve to feel listened to and supported with options.
If you’re struggling with symptoms and feel like you’re not being heard, we’re here to help.
At LIVVE, we take the time to look at the full picture of your health and guide you through the options that are right for you.
