“If induction truly protected you and your baby, they wouldn’t need to use fear to make you agree.” Power in Birth
This quote points to a simple truth: when we’re told our baby is “too big,” “at risk,” or that going past a certain date is “dangerous,” the real tool in play is fear—not evidence.
Fear can feel urgent, but it isn’t a substitute for clear information or meaningful informed consent. In most healthy pregnancies, induction carries its own risks—increased interventions, longer labours, and potential for surgical birth.
True protection comes from understanding the evidence, asking the right questions, and trusting your body’s timing. Stay tuned for a carousel post where we’ll dive into exactly what the research says—and the five questions to ask when someone tells you “it’s safer this way.”
You deserve care that invites choice, not coercion. 🌿
