Hello, my name is Sally Cook and I am a fully qualified counsellor with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Therapeutic Counselling.

Counselling with Sally's fees are £50.00 an hour for a 50 minute session.

Cold as a witches broomstick out there today. Blew the cobwebs away though. This time of year can be quite stressful. There may well be unresolved family conflict for some, for others they might be grieving the loss of a loved one. A big part of what I do is relational therapy; looking into how we relate with others and what maybe useful to enable us to cope and work towards becoming self resilient and self caring. I also have a deep passion of holding someone’s hope whilst they navigate their way through grief and loss.

Some times we literally cannot see the woods for the trees. Mindfulness techniques help us to get back into the here and now-and it can help settle our anxiety.
Using our senses to ground ourselves helps us to do just that.
This exercise can be done literally any where…
👀 Look around you. What five things can you see a pattern, object, clouds, tree bark?
🖐️ Feel, what’s in your pocket, how do the clothes feel on your skin, can you feel your feet on the floor?
👂 Hear, listen for sounds around you, is that a bird singing, washing machine rumbling, dog barking?
👃 Smell, breathe in through your nose, can you smell the coffee, or may be flowers, air freshener, cut grass?
👅 Taste, what can you taste, the last thing you ate or drank, maybe your toothpaste?

Sometimes, as human beings, our thoughts can run away with us. We can get stuck and confused, negative thoughts can overtake us. I find looking at this image really grounding and it gives me a sense of clarity to help organise my head back into a peaceful place of being.

When life is getting you down and all around you looks glum. Think raspberry. Rise to the challenge to get some sun and air. Depression hates a moving target. A walk in nature may just help you to lift your mood. It’s good for our cognition too. All the photos I post are mine from my daily nature walks with my dog. Take good care everyone. 🤗

When life is a struggle, think cat. Take time to relax, breathe and spoil yourself with the warmth of the autumn sun. Even a few minutes of nature a day is proven to be lovely for you.

Su***de ideation does not mean you have to take your own life, it just means something needs to change. Always ask twice if you think someone you know is struggling. And reach out if you are. Please look after you and yours. Take care all. 🤗

If your struggling and feel like you need support to explore your thoughts feelings and emotions, then talking therapy might be right for you. It helps to hear yourself in the presence of another person sometimes. It can be clarifying and cathartic to understand what’s going on for you and to explore why you feel the way that you do. Take

Wondering what other people do for self care.…?
Some of the things I find helpful for my mental health are:
Taking my dog for a walk in nature.
Socialising with friends.
Sometimes saying “No”.
Sometimes saying “Yes”.
Loud music.
Quiet reflection.
Doing absolutely nothing.
Being active.
Taking five minutes to allow myself to have a rant, be anxious or just acknowledge my mood.
Knowing that every emotion is ok and there for a reason, helps me to have balance and enables me to be kinder to myself.
“Be kind to your mind”
