At Spa Surgery we have a "zero tolerance" on threatening and abusive behavior towards any team member and against derogatory language on social media.
This policy can be found in full on our website.
Threatening and abusive behavior: This covers a wide range of actions, including verbal threats, physical violence, intimidation, and harassment toward staff or other patients.
Derogatory language on social media: This extends the policy's reach to online behavior, specifically targeting negative or insulting comments about the surgery that are posted on social media platforms.
The consequences for violating these policies are also clearly stated: a potential breakdown of the patient-surgery relationship, which could lead to the patient being removed from the practice's register and asked to find a different GP.
These policies are put in place to ensure a safe and respectful environment for both staff and patients. For the GP surgery, it provides a clear framework for dealing with difficult situations and protecting its employees. For patients, it sets a clear expectation of what is considered acceptable behavior and what the consequences are for not meeting those standards.
What if I disagree with the policy?
If you disagree with the policy, you can speak with the practice manager to express your concerns and better understand the rationale behind it. However, it's important to remember that this is a policy of the surgery, and by being a patient there, you are expected to abide by it.
If you have a genuine concern or complaint about the surgery's service, the appropriate way to address it is through their official complaints procedure, not by posting derogatory comments on social media.
