We're so excited to announce that our heartwarming "Adopt a Grand-Friend" scheme is expanding to all of our care homes! 🥳

This initiative creates special intergenerational friendships between young people and our wonderful residents, and we're inviting our local community to get involved. We believe these connections are a powerful way to bridge generations and spread joy. 🤝

The scheme offers amazing benefits for everyone involved:

👶For young people: It helps develop communication skills, boosts confidence, and teaches empathy. 💖

👵For residents: It provides mental stimulation, reduces loneliness, and fosters a sense of purpose. 😊

What a wonderful week we've had at Ghyll Royd Care Home! ✨

We kicked things off with a lovely ladies' lunch in the conservatory on Saturday, followed by our Ghyll Royd Sings sing-along on Monday.

Tuesday was a day of friendly competition, with exercise and a very competitive game of Boules, plus an afternoon performance from Tom and Bob. On Wednesday, we tested our knowledge with a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" session and a Memory Lane Quiz.

To end the week on a high note, we had a fantastic cardio funky Drum Fit session this morning! 🥁 We felt invigorated afterwards and had a lively chat over coffee and cake.

A full house for our Wednesday exercise group with the lovely Oona from MOOV Performing arts, Dance, Pilates the energy levels were great but we are all about balance so had some cake and chocolate with a cuppa after! 💪☕️🍰

What a fantastic couple of days we've had at Ghyll Royd!

On Tuesday, we got our bodies moving with some armchair Zumba, followed by a well-deserved cuppa and a lively game of boules. After lunch, we put our minds to the test with a fun logo game in Blossom Lounge!

Wednesday was a game show extravaganza! We had a brilliant time with "Play Your Cards Right," complete with coffee and cake. Then we gathered around the tiny tablet for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," which sparked some great conversations and friendly guessing. The afternoon was a special one, as we welcomed a new resident at a lovely ladies' meetup in the Rowan Lounge. We played "Memory Lane" on the tiny tablet and shared stories over tea and biscuits. We even had an interesting and informative chat about dog rescue and rehoming, with lots of great questions from our residents!

What a wonderful Friday we had at Ghyll Royd!

We started our day beating the heat with our very own hydration station trolley! We had so much fun chopping up fresh fruit to make individual fruit bowls and some delicious mocktail drinks. It was a great way to stay cool and hydrated, and it went down really well! 🍉🍹

In the afternoon, we enjoyed the beautiful weather by heading out to the gardens. We played The Logo Game, which was a huge hit! Everyone got involved, guessing different advertising logos and answering questions about the brands. It brought back so many great memories and sparked lots of wonderful discussions over tea and cake. 🍰

It's been a busy and fun-filled week here at Ghyll Royd, and we have lots of happy memories to share!

On Monday, we enjoyed a fantastic day out with a trip to the Ilkley River in the morning, followed by a visit to Yeadon Tarn after lunch. It was so lovely to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Tuesday was filled with music and singing! We had a wonderful visit from Tim and Bob, who played some golden oldies that had everyone singing along. It’s always so great to hear classic tunes fill the home.

Wednesday was a day of games and treats. In the morning, we held a lively Boules Tournament in the garden. Later, our ice lolly trolley made its rounds to each unit, handing out cooling, hydrating treats to everyone. We ended the afternoon with a fun quiz on our tablet, taking a trip down memory lane!

Yesterday, we had a relaxed morning with one-to-one visits and our activities trolley, which was full of ball games, throwing skills, and hand creams to try. In the afternoon, the competition heated up with our fabulous domino tournament, and we also took some time to have a chat about VJ Day.
