📢 Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September at 15:00 BST

This Sunday, the UK government will conduct a national TEST of the Emergency Alerts system. These alerts are designed to warn you of life-threatening emergencies, such as extreme weather or terror attacks.

What to expect:
• The alert will be sent to millions of mobile phones around 3pm .
• Your phone will vibrate and emit a siren sound for about 10 seconds.
• The message will read:

“This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby.
You do not need to take any action. In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe.
Find simple and effective advice on how to prepare for emergencies at gov.uk/prepare.”

Note: Most modern phones are compatible. If you don’t receive the alert, check your settings.

‘I didn’t think any of this was going to happen when you walked in the door.’

Dementia advisor Kelly visited George, who is caring for his wife living with dementia, to carry out an assessment and discuss the Priority Service Register.

‘During the visit, I noticed the house was cold and discovered they didn’t have central heating.’

‘Knowing the local fire service could offer additional support, and since George was nervous about other agencies visiting, I agreed to be present at the meeting.’

‘Over the following weeks, I attended several meetings between George and other services. By collaborating we provided suitable support to keep them warm. This included a grant-funded installation of a new boiler and central heating system in a home that previously had none.’

This was possible because of training through a £1.9 million partnership between Alzheimer’s Society and three UK gas distribution networks.

The Gas Distribution Network partnership aims to help people with dementia and their carers save money on energy and stay safe, but its scope has been far wider.

The two-year partnership has provided funding for dementia advisers, so we can reach even more people.

It’s also provided valuable training for 800 frontline staff on energy efficiency, getting help with bills, carbon monoxide awareness and the Priority Services Register.

Exciting News from PerCurra Leeds!

We’ve officially moved into our new office on King Lane, Alwoodley — and we couldn’t be
happier!

Today, we celebrated with an open day. Our team welcomed local businesses and colleagues
from PerCurra HQ to mark this special milestone. It was a fantastic day filled with connection,
community, and care.

Mohammed Khaliq, Owner and Managing Director of PerCurra Leeds, said: “We’re absolutely
delighted to be settling into our new, spacious office on King Lane. This move reflects our
commitment to growing our presence in Leeds and continuing to deliver excellent homecare

Dementia is a group of symptoms. It’s caused by different diseases that damage the brain and stop it from working properly. Different types of dementia damage different parts of the brain.

Types of diseases that cause dementia include:

>Alzheimer’s disease (the most common type of dementia)
>vascular dementia (the second most common type)
>dementia with Lewy bodies
>frontotemporal dementia (including Pick’s disease)
