Most modern hearing aids can be used to make phone calls hands free.

Your phone rings, tap your phone or hearing aid and hear high-quality sound directly in your ears.

What's more, is that your hearing aids pick up your voice and transmit it to the person you are talking to.

We can guide you through all the steps necessary to get the most out of hearing aids.

And yes, youcan listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more also through your hearing aids directly from your phone or iPad etc.

Hearing care has, in the past, had a poor reputation.

Free hearing tests, pressure to buy hearing aids.

Sales targets to reach, commission on sales.

It is hardly surprising that many people, even today, report a poor experience, especially with the high-street providers.

Even local opticians who offer hearing care often use 'national chains', which means the audiologist is not based locally and usually covers a large area.

At The Hearing Space, our Consultant Audiologist lives locally, is always at hand to solve problems that occur, and, being part of the community, is ideally placed to provide support and aftercare, which is often lacking with bigger providers.

Hearing technology is constantly evolving. It can even be difficult for audiologists to stay up to date with the latest advancements.

When I first worked as an audiologist in the NHS, I would often spend hours testing hearing aids to fully understand how they worked.

30 years later, and you can still find me in my office with a new set of hearing aids, talking, whistling (yes) and more as I get to grips with the latest advancements on offer.

Doing this allows me to be better informed, which helps me guide you when you are faced with the options available.

Hearing care is much more than having a hearing test and getting hearing aids.

With over 30 years of experience, you will benefit from care, expertise and support.

Earwax. Gross or strangely fascinating!

Many clients can't bear to look at what comes out of their ears. For others, it's out with the camera and a quick photo (or video) to show family and friends.

Whatever your predisposition, we are happy to oblige :-)

On a serious note, earwax removal is an unregulated procedure, which means that basically ANYONE can offer this service.

Would you rather see someone (pharmacists included) with a day's training or a professional audiologist with over 30 years of experience?

Your ears, you decide !

For quick, effective treatment for blocked ears, book online today.

Hearing loss is gradual, and often people don't realise what sounds they are not hearing.

From birds and wildlife to the sounds of everyday things around the house, like oven alarms or someone at the door.

Although my job is focused on helping people hear speech clearly, the additional benefit of just hearing more is often warmly welcomed by my clients.

People feel more connected to the world around them.

Unlike high-street hearing aid providers, we don't 'sell' anything. We work with you to find the best hearing solutions.

Check our reviews, we offer exceptional service.

Hearing well (or not so well) is often more noticeable at family gatherings and social events. Xmas and the New Year are often challenging to hear if you have a hearing loss, resulting in withdrawal from conversation, nodding along, or answering a question completely wrong!

If you relate to this or know a family member who is struggling to hear, hearing devices can bring people back into the conversation. For many people who get hearing aids, they only realise then how much they have been missing.

For professional hearing assessments, and with our highly experienced audiologist, you can be assured of honest guidance and support if you do have a hearing loss, which we think we can help.

Invisible or visible?

What do you think?

In the hearing care world, we often hear of invisible hearing aids. Why does the industry use this phrase?

There is still a stigma surrounding hearing loss. Let's think about this for a moment.

People do not wish others to know they have a hearing problem.

Why is this?

Well, quite simply, hearing loss is associated with getting older. And let's be honest, there is a whole multinational beauty and wellness industry enticing people to stay and look young.

So, it's not surprising that if a 'thing' is associated with getting older, then for many people, getting that 'thing' is not desirable.

How can the hearing care world change the narrative? Should we move away from using 'invisible' and educate more on hearing loss and why it happens?

In fact, most hearing devices are relatively discreet, with some now designed to look visible, similar to many Bluetooth earphones on the market.

Whatever your thoughts, we provide a wide range of styles which ultimately will help you hear better, which is after all the purpose of these devices.

If you struggle to hear clearly when in groups, or miss parts of conversations and feel like you are not part of the group, you probably have some degree of hearing loss.

Many people are shocked when they try hearing aids and discover what they have been missing for so long.

Hearing loss is a gradual, slow process, and it is really hard to know, without a hearing test, if you have a problem.

Here at The Hearing Space, we offer you plenty of time to understand your unique hearing needs. We carefully assess your hearing and then provide you with honest advice about what options are available to help you improve your hearing.

We can also set up hearing aid trials so you can see for yourself whether hearing aids are helpful in your life.

You can book online or call us for more information.

Most people who experience hearing loss simply wish to hear better.

Yes, technology is great and is constantly evolving.

But for most people, hearing better is the goal.

To achieve this, it requires skill, expertise, and the audiologist's willingness to take time to get things right.

I often see clients who purchased hearing devices from the bigger high-street providers. They come to me looking for help as they feel they were rushed, that their hearing is still problematic and that their audiologist is never there!

Being a small independent practice, we look after each and every person that we see.

Often, seeing clients many times after they get hearing aids, we will make sure you are hearing as best as you possibly can.

For trusted, local, independent hearing care, book online or call for more information.
