Unlike vision care, hearing care is more of a process. It takes time.

Adjusting to hearing devices can take several months, with fine-tuning of devices to get the perfect sound for your needs.

Many hearing care providers don't factor in this time. Yes, they offer hearing aids at slightly lower prices, and they say they offer lifetime support, BUT in reality, getting appointments is difficult and seeing the same audiologist is challenging.

At The Hearing Space, we factor in up to five appointments in your first year of using hearing devices, as we know these are often necessary.

You will always see the same audiologist, and if you need an appointment, you will usually be seen within a day or two.

As a family-owned business, our reputation is crucial to our success, and that is why we treat everyone with care and professionalism.

If you are ready to get help with your hearing, call us for a chat or book online today.

Hearing loss is usually gradual.

Slowly, over time, sounds fade away.

Not all sounds, but some.

Life is made up of a rich tapestry of sounds, from the melodies of music, the sounds of nature, the voice of a loved one and the more humdrum sounds of life!

Modern hearing aids are constantly processing sounds to deliver clear, crisp, comfortable sounds to allow a richer soundscape of life.

The first step to hearing better is to get a thorough Hearing Evaluation.

At The Hearing Space, we take our time to test your hearing carefully, looking at how well you hear different frequencies of sound, as well as finding out how difficult you find it to hear speech.

We then provide advice and solutions and work with you.

You can book online and be seen within a week!

Musicians, DJs, gig lovers.

If you love music and value your hearing, we can provide a range of custom hearing protection.

Custom - made to fit your ears

Protection - choose which dB level of sound reduction you need

The procedure is simple.

You visit, we check your ears, and we then take some shapes of your ears by carefully inserting some soft 'play dough' like material in your ears. Once set, we remove and send to be processed.

You can now listen to the music you love without the risk of hearing loss or tinnitus!

Tinnitus.

When I started in audiology over 30 years ago, there were few treatment options available for people with tinnitus.

For some, tinnitus is an annoyance, for others, it can affect sleep, mental health and quality of life.

Thankfully, there are now several treatment options available, with more being developed all the time.

Some treatments focus on CBT approaches, others on neuroplasticity. Others use forms of sound therapy.

At The Hearing Space, we provide in-depth tinnitus assessments alongside a range of treatment options.

Many people today use subtitles when watching TV.

Many struggle to hear the speech and follow the storylines.

There are several reasons for this, including the quality of the TV's loudspeaker and the amount of background noise competing with the speech.

Another reason is hearing loss. Typically affecting higher frequencies more, hearing loss reduces the amount of speech information the brain can use to identify words and sentences.

It's a bit like looking at a rainbow that is missing some colours. The brain can't use information that it cannot hear!.

Modern hearing aids can carefully restore frequencies of sound that are not heard. With careful setup, hearing devices can amplify specific frequencies of sound to improve speech clarity.

No more guessing, just effortless listening and finally enjoying films and dramas again.

If you would like to explore hearing options, call us or book online.

Over half of the population over 50 have some degree of hearing loss.

Although hearing naturally deteriorates with age, other factors such as exposure to loud sounds, genetics, and medications can also contribute to this natural deterioration.

Most people put off getting a hearing test, and there still remains a stigma that hearing loss affects only older adults.

Yes, the older you are, the more likely you are to have hearing problems, but many working-age adults are struggling with their hearing and putting off getting it checked.

The benefits of finding out if you do have any hearing issues are that you can plan, consider options, learn about the impact of hearing loss on brain health and mental health and generally be more aware.

We offer unhurried, detailed assessments, providing you with information on how you should plan for future tests or advising you if we feel hearing technology is something to consider.

Hearing care has, in the past, had a poor reputation and still does to some extent.

High-pressure sales, performance-related pay, and inexperienced staff.

As a small, independent practice, we work differently.

You benefit from experience, expertise, and, more importantly, you can trust our advice.

We are not here for a quick fix. We know that hearing care is a long-term process.

Unlike hearing care provided in Opticians, our audiologist is here all the time. Not visiting once a week.

This matters because sometimes hearing aids fail, ears block up, and advice is needed urgently.

If you would like more information, give us a call or book your 'Hearing Evaluation' online.

I can hear birds again...

I can hear my footsteps on the carpet....

I can hear my grandchild clearly....

Listening feels so much easier....

I have had to turn the TV down....

I can hear the rain in the window....

These are just some of the comments I hear from clients to whom I have fitted hearing devices.

These are just some of the comments I hear from clients to whom I have fitted hearing devices. Yes, hearing speech is usually the main thing to improve, but many sounds are lost when someone experiences hearing loss.

Thankfully, hearing devices that have been correctly programmed and set up for the individual can restore a wide range of sounds.

If you are struggling with hearing, and listening just seems an effort, book in for a Hearing Evaluation, and we will carefully assess your needs.

Hearing devices do not restore hearing to normal!

Unlike glasses for vision, it is impossible to 'correct' hearing in the same way.

Hearing devices can improve audibility (make things louder) by amplifying sounds.

They can also use sophisticated digital processing to allow the user to hear as well as possible in a wide range of listening environments (quiet room, busy cafe, social setting).

They can also stream audio from phones and laptops, and can take phone calls directly.

Expensive hearing aids set up badly will underperform. Set up correctly, they will significantly improve a person's hearing.

Choosing WHO sets up your hearing devices is as important as choosing the actual devices.

As a small independent hearing care provider, we work with our clients to get them hearing as well as possible. Back to normal, no. Hearing well again, yes.

Call or book a Hearing Evaluation if you are struggling to hear well.
