Now available on Joe Wicks Youtube Channel for FREE this summer get your kids moving more, with the launch of a new animated series, Activate, co-created by fitness coach, Joe Wicks MBE, and Studio AKA, the team behind ‘Hey Duggee’, and is backed by the government as part of a new partnership to reach schools and families across the country.

Physical activity is essential for growing bodies and minds. But over half (53%) of UK children are not meeting daily activity guidelines. Backed by the Department of Health & Social Care, Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Activate aims to help address inactivity among children by getting children moving and making fitness fun.

The series promotes short bursts of movement through fun, accessible content that can be easily integrated into your day, whether at home, school, summer clubs or on the go - getting children moving over the summer and beyond.

As we approach the school holidays and better weather, why dont you look at joining in the park runs that are available for FREE within your area.

Dont be put off ... you dont need to be a professional runner, you can join in with a walk or even a jog. Its a great way to get outdoors, meet people and get some exercise. Fun for all the family.

parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, every Sunday morning.

We have a wonderful health and wellbeing coach who works at our surgery on a Tuesday called NIC.
But what is a health and wellbeing coach and what do they help with?

Health and wellbeing coaches support people to increase their ability to self-manage, motivation levels and commitment to change their lifestyle. They are experts in behaviour change and focus on improving health related outcomes by working with people to set personalised goals and change their behaviours. They work with people with physical and/or mental health conditions and those at risk of developing them.

Health and wellbeing coaches can be an effective intervention for people experiencing a range of long term conditions, including respiratory, cardiovascular (including type 2 diabetes and hypertension), and stress/low mood. They can also support people with weight management, diet and increasing activity levels.
