Language is not born only from words, but from the combination of eye contact, gestures, sounds, and touch that a baby experiences from the very first days. Infant massage becomes a privileged way to nurture and support the development of communication.
During massage, the parent listens closely: eye-to-eye contact creates a deep bond, while the voice accompanying the strokes with gentle words or songs helps the baby perceive sounds and linguistic rhythms. It is a silent dialogue, made of presence and mutual attention, that forms the foundation for communication skills.
In many IAIM courses, parents share how their babies respond with smiles, coos, or movements when massage is combined with the voice. These small responses show that language begins long before the first words.
Infant massage does not aim to make babies “speak earlier,” but rather to support a richer, more harmonious journey, where communication grows within relationship and love.
