This week, we treated our amazing hospital team to free breakfast sandwiches as a midweek pick-me-up and we were thrilled to serve over 230 of them! 🥪 🥓 🍳

It was our way of saying a big thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the latest staff survey. Our team’s feedback is so important to us; it helps shape the way we work, identify what’s going well, and highlight where we can do better.

We’re always listening, and we’re committed to making meaningful changes based on their feedback. 💚

We were proud to host a dedicated RCN Learning and Development Day at our Leeds Hospital this week, bringing together teams from Leeds and beyond - both in person and online - to explore key topics in nursing and the independent healthcare sector.

We welcomed speakers from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) who delivered four engaging sessions:

👩‍⚕️ Michelle Raddings, Lead Nurse for the Independent Healthcare Sector in Yorkshire & Humber, walked us through the Nursing Workforce Standards, sparking great discussion on safe staffing, support, and development in the independent sector.

🗣️ Sarah Dodsworth, Regional Director for Yorkshire & Humber, delivered a powerful session on Raising Concerns, offering practical guidance on speaking up safely and confidently, and why a strong voice matters in the workplace.

🤝 Kate Burton, RCN Officer, highlighted the role of RCN Representatives, outlining how they support members and why we need more of them on site.

💻 Chelsea Bleasdale, National Officer for the Private Sector, and Irene Murray, Senior Organiser, joined virtually to give an overview of what the RCN does in the private healthcare sector and shared exciting news about the new HCA campaign launching soon.

It was great to see so many people join both in person and online!

👏 A big thank you to all our speakers, and to our on-site RCN Learning & Development Representative, Zarah, who arranged the event.

Our physios - Laura, Jennifer, Sophie and Charles - were proud to attend the Great North Debate this year!

It was fantastic to hear from leading speakers, like Mr Sanjeev Anand, from across the UK and around the world, sharing the latest research, procedures, and insights in physiotherapy.

We took part in some thought-provoking debates and heard a range of perspectives that will help us offer balanced, evidence-based advice to our patients and ensure our services stay aligned with the most up-to-date concepts in our field.

Excited to bring these ideas back to clinic!

We recently completed training on our new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at our Leeds Hospital. An important step as we move to a new pathology system that will support faster, more accurate diagnostics.

🔬 What does this mean for patients and staff?

✅ Improved sample tracking and reporting
✅ More efficient lab workflows
✅ Enhanced data security and compliance
✅ A stronger foundation for delivering high-quality care

A huge thank you to our teams for their enthusiasm and dedication as we make this important transition. Together, we’re building a smarter, more connected future for healthcare. 🤝

📝 From guidance on workplace inclusion, to practical support for study skills and dyslexia; our initiatives are designed to break down barriers and foster a culture of empathy, accessibility, and respect.

We’re continually evaluating and implementing strategies to ensure our hospital remains a welcoming and equitable space for all. 💚

Yesterday, we welcomed external multidisciplinary teams to our Leeds hospital for CCU Transfer Training — building skills and confidence in safely managing complex patient transfers, both within a hopsital and across sites. 🚑

Led by experienced trainers, the sessions combined interactive simulations covering best practices in critical care, teamwork under pressure, and transfer protocols.

A huge thank you to all participants for your enthusiasm and professionalism. Collaboration like this helps raise standards across the wider healthcare system, strengthening patient care everywhere. 👏
