We were proud to host a dedicated RCN Learning and Development Day at our Leeds Hospital this week, bringing together teams from Leeds and beyond - both in person and online - to explore key topics in nursing and the independent healthcare sector.
We welcomed speakers from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) who delivered four engaging sessions:
👩⚕️ Michelle Raddings, Lead Nurse for the Independent Healthcare Sector in Yorkshire & Humber, walked us through the Nursing Workforce Standards, sparking great discussion on safe staffing, support, and development in the independent sector.
🗣️ Sarah Dodsworth, Regional Director for Yorkshire & Humber, delivered a powerful session on Raising Concerns, offering practical guidance on speaking up safely and confidently, and why a strong voice matters in the workplace.
🤝 Kate Burton, RCN Officer, highlighted the role of RCN Representatives, outlining how they support members and why we need more of them on site.
💻 Chelsea Bleasdale, National Officer for the Private Sector, and Irene Murray, Senior Organiser, joined virtually to give an overview of what the RCN does in the private healthcare sector and shared exciting news about the new HCA campaign launching soon.
It was great to see so many people join both in person and online!
👏 A big thank you to all our speakers, and to our on-site RCN Learning & Development Representative, Zarah, who arranged the event.
