At 18 years old, Rebecca had her sights firmly set on a professional cricketing career, that was until running, walking, and even standing for any period of time became increasingly painful.

Rebecca was born with talipes (commonly known as club foot) but after a successful corrective surgery and subsequent orthotic treatment, she had next to no issues with her foot and ankle growing up. Little did she know, her ankle was slowly deteriorating.

The prospect of rerouting her entire life plan shook Rebecca, but sporting success has always been her destiny. With the help of her Biomechanic Specialist and Kate Chauhan, Specialist Orthotist at Steeper Clinic, an exciting next chapter would begin.

Have you ever wondered how we craft our top quality Made to Measure footwear? 👞 Well, it all starts right here in Leeds!

Orthotists across the UK take detailed measurements of patients' feet and send them to our purpose-built manufacturing site, where our talented technicians get to work. 🛠️

Here we use the latest CAD/CAM technology to manufacture custom orthoses specific to individual needs, offering unparalleled accuracy and repeatability. However, age-old hand skills are still utilised throughout production to preserve traditional processes which have produced quality orthoses for decades. 📏📐

“Lasts” are created from an individual's measurements and stored on-site. This is so our technicians can create further pairs of bespoke footwear in the future, saving the patient from having to schedule another appointment.

Every year during the month of June, a nationwide campaign is held to raise awareness of ! Early detection and trialling different treatment methods is so important as Teresa highlights in our latest case study with her daughter Isabelle.

Orla hasn’t had an easy ride with her Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy. But thanks to her AFO’s provided by Steeper, she’s learnt how to swim and dance, and almost mastered riding a bike!
