Call for Carers: Palliate project

Since 2018, the Helix Centre has been working with patients, carers and families to think of and test technologies to improve end of life care.

Seriously ill people often want to spend their last days of life at home being cared for by family or friends. The Helix Centre believe that everyone should have access to the right skills, support and information to provide the best care in the last phase of their loved ones’ lives – alongside the care their loved one is already receiving.

The Helix Centre are developing a digital platform that centres end-of-life care in the community, making it safer and more reliable by providing training, education, peer-to-peer support and on-demand professional support.

In order to make sure that this platform is as useful as possible for carers, The Helix Centre need to speak with the experts – carers with lived experience of caring at the end of life. By sharing your experiences and views with The Helix Centre, you can help develop something that will have a positive impact for people at the end of life and their carers.

If you’d like to get involved, want to hear a bit more about the project, or have questions you’d like to ask before you make a decision, please contact cat@helixcentre.com.

Thursday 4th June (11am – 12.30pm)

In Control are holding a platform tomorrow evening for people to gather on line and discuss tactics and practical tips around for people & families who have a direct payment through a personal budget or health budget.

They will hear from people who manage their direct payments who will share the protocols they have put in place for themselves and their PA’s. They hope by joining together and sharing, they might be able to ease some anxieties around the uncertainty and link people together for ideas and support.

The live webinar will be recorded for others to access and they will make notes of tips and links that people are willing to share and have found helpful and share these publicly.
