Hay fever and allergy – National Change in prescribing
In line with NHS England and West Yorkshire Commissioning Board guidelines, the surgery is no longer routinely prescribing medication (antihistamines and nasals sprays) for hay fever.

These can be readily obtained by purchasing these over the counter at your local pharmacy or supermarket.

It is recommended that sufferers of hay fever seek advice from their local pharmacy around managing their symptoms and any patients contacting the practice with regards to hay fever will be directed to the pharmacy.

Most hay fever and allergy treatments including tablets, liquids, nasal sprays, and eye drops do not require a prescription, and can be purchased from supermarkets and pharmacies.

Recommended treatments include:

Oral antihistamines such as cetirizine, loratadine, desloratadine, chlorphenamine and fexofenadine

Nasal steroid sprays such as beclomethasone
Eye drops including sodium cromoglycate.

Nasal decongestants such as Sudafed and Otrivine are NOT recommended.

Getting into some spring cleaning now the days are getting brighter? Return, Recycle and Reuse your walking aids at your local Leeds City Council and Leeds Recycles recycling centre!

Each year, we estimate around 4,000 pairs of walking aids are kept by patients annually in Leeds and, if returned, these could save the Trust up to £46,000.

So, if you’re having a clear out, or doing some spring cleaning, grab those crutches that are gathering dust at the back of the garage and return them to one of the recycling centres in Pudsey, Yeadon, Kirkstall, Seacroft, Meanwood, Middleton or Wetherby to help us save vital funds and create a more sustainable service too.

Meningitis B

We are aware of the recent media coverage surrounding Men B and lots of patients have questions regarding this.

There is currently no Men B vaccination program available for adults on the NHS.

Children born before 1st May 2015 will not have received this vaccine as part of their childhood immunisations.

The Men B vaccine is routinely offered to all babies as part of the NHS childhood schedule at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 12 months old.

If your child is eligible for this vaccine, they will be routinely called as part of their childhood immunisation schedule.

If you are concerned regarding meningitis symptoms for yourself or another person please seek urgent medical advice.

Further information regarding meningitis can be found on the NHS website using the link below:

🩷This Mother's Day we're sending love to...

Those who have lost mothers.

Mothers alive thanks to the gift of life.

Mothers proud to be living donors.

Mothers proud of their children for becoming organ donors.

Mothers of transplant recipients.

Mothers waiting for the gift of life.

Those who have gone on to become mothers, thanks to organ donation.

Mothers who are on the Organ Donor Register and encourage open conversations about it.

Those who have received the gift of life thanks to a mother's generosity.
