A breakthrough? Or another intervention to add to the list!
I have zero issue with the development of new technology, when properly tested, Including maternal satisfaction and long term outcomes.
But rolling this out as a historical accomplishment when it’s only been tested on 20 women….. 🫠
A see a future where women are attached to CTG( let’s be honest it’s going nowhere) AND their babies have this screwed into their scalps …. Belt and braces!
When we already know that midwifery led care and continuity of care have a SIGNIFICANT impact on improving outcomes, one needs to wonder why that isn’t being rolled out…..
A little machine is less labour intensive right…
This particular story comes out of Australia, but it’s something different companies are developing internationally.
Let’s not forget, although this is wireless, it requires the woman’s waters to be broken and a vaginal exam to be inserted… increasing infection risk and disrupting physiology.
