💙 World Parkinson’s Day

Today, Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust stands with everyone living with Parkinson’s, as well as their families, carers and loved ones.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement and can impact many aspects of daily life. Each person’s experience is unique, and today is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge stigma and recognise the strength of those affected.

Our teams are committed to providing compassionate, person centred support to help people live as independently and comfortably as possible.

Together, we can increase understanding and make a positive difference.

🌍 Today is World Health Day

This year, we’re joining the global call to champion health and wellbeing for all. Our teams are committed every day to supporting people to live healthier, happier lives - through community services, prevention, early support, and compassionate care.

World Health Day is a reminder that good health is shaped not only by the care we receive, but also by the communities we live in, the choices we make, and the support around us.

Here are a few simple ways to look after your wellbeing today:
✔️ Stay active in a way that works for you
✔️ Eat a balanced, varied diet
✔️ Connect with friends, family or your community
✔️ Take time for rest and mental wellbeing
✔️ Reach out for help if you need support

Together, we can build healthier communities for everyone. đź’™

We’d like to wish a peaceful and restful Easter Sunday to everyone who celebrates.

Today we also want to recognise and thank all our dedicated colleagues who are working over the bank holiday to care for our communities. đź’™

Whether you’re spending time with loved ones, taking a quiet moment for yourself, or working to support others, we hope today brings you comfort, connection and positivity.

Thank you for being part of our community.

🚶‍♂️ It’s Walk to Work Day!

We’re encouraging staff, patients, and our wider community to add a little more walking into their day.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. Even a short walk can help:
✔️ Boost energy and mood
✔️ Reduce stress
✔️ Support heart and lung health
✔️ Increase daily physical activity

If you can, why not try walking all or part of your journey today?

If walking to work isn’t possible, taking a walk during lunch or after your shift can make a big difference too.

Let’s take steps together towards healthier living. 💙

🌟 Today is World Autism Awareness Day

We are proud to recognise and celebrate our autistic children, young people, adults, colleagues, and families.

Autism is a lifelong developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts, and processes information. Many autistic people bring unique strengths including creativity, focus, honesty, and deep passion for their interests. Today, we’re raising awareness, promoting understanding, and encouraging acceptance.

đź’™ Whether you are autistic, support someone who is, or want to learn more, small steps towards understanding make a big difference.

Let’s work together to create communities where every autistic person feels understood, included, and supported.

Two members of our Trust are taking on an incredible challenge this year as they run the London Marathon. Angie Yates and Dawn Greaves have dedicated months of early mornings, long training sessions and determination to reach this point, and we are extremely proud of their commitment.
They are not only running 26.2 miles, but doing so in support of Leeds Community Healthcare Charity. Every donation, no matter the size, helps make a meaningful difference and supports them through the toughest miles.
If you are able to support Angie or Dawn, please consider sponsoring them using the links below:

Making neighbourhood health services work for people in Leeds
Neighbourhood health is a way of organising health services so they are closer to where people live and work, easier to access and better at preventing illness.
In partnership with Healthwatch Leeds, we listened to people’s thoughts on what good neighbourhood health would look like. As a result, LCH have created an action plan to improve its services. Please find the full report, summary, recorded presentation and an animation video via the link below:

Find out how people look after their health and wellbeing in the areas where they live to inform the new neighbourhood health model.
