If you notice a newly inverted ni**le, don’t ignore it — get it checked.

In most cases, inverted ni**les develop during breast development due to hormonal changes and aren’t caused by a medical condition. But occasionally, they can be linked to something more serious, including cancer.

Inversion usually affects both breasts. If it’s sudden or only on one side, it’s important to have it checked by a healthcare professional.

If there’s an underlying cause, it’s important to treat that — not just the ni**le itself.

Ni***es usually protrude naturally, but some people develop inverted ni**les that may cause them to feel self-conscious or embarrassed. A relatively simple surgical procedure under local anaesthetic can help to restore the natural shape of the ni**le.
