Next time you’re visiting Alexander Care Home, take a moment to spot our new signage 👀

As well as looking smart and thoughtfully designed, the new signs help residents, families and visitors find their way around the home with ease. More importantly, they also support a stronger sense of place, helping each area feel familiar, welcoming and truly part of home.

It’s a small detail, but one that makes everyday life a little easier, calmer and more comfortable for everyone 💜

One of our trainee managers, Lisa, has just completed her Level 5 Diploma in Management, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Lisa joined Alexander Care Home back in 2013 as a carer and, over the years, has quite literally worked every shift going. Through hard work, commitment and an incredible passion for care, she has progressed step by step, and has now achieved the qualification required to manage a care home, completing Level 5 in record time.

This means we now have three Level 5 qualified managers within the home, alongside General Manager Wendy and Care Manager Gail. That strength and depth of experience gives our residents and families even greater reassurance that high quality care is being delivered 24 hours a day.

We strongly believe in creating genuine career opportunities for our team, and Lisa’s journey is a brilliant example of what’s possible with dedication and support.

Congratulations, Lisa, we’re incredibly proud of you and excited to see what the future holds 👏💜

We’re proud to share another example of what contributed to the ‘Good’ rating in the most recent CQC report for Alexander Care Home.

Inspectors recognised how our staff and leaders actively listen to residents who may be at risk of inequality in their experiences or outcomes, and, crucially, how care is tailored in response.

One resident living with dementia found it difficult to communicate their choices verbally. By working closely with their relatives and listening to their advice, our team introduced the use of an iPad with a visual app. This allowed the resident to point to pictures to express preferences, ensuring they could continue to make informed choices about their daily care.

This is a powerful example of how we treat every resident as an individual, adapt our approach when needed, and always uphold dignity, independence and human rights, values that sit at the heart of everything we do. 💜

Today is Race Against Dementia Day.

This is a day dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds to help accelerate research into dementia treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Race Against Dementia is a global charity founded by Sir Jackie Stewart in 2016, following his wife Lady Stewart’s diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia. Inspired by the world of Formula One, the charity brings together innovation, collaboration and urgency to help fasttrack progress in dementia research.

At Alexander Care Home, this day resonates deeply. Dementia affects so many families, and we see every day how important understanding, patience, compassion and specialist care are for those living with the condition.

The aim of Race Against Dementia Day is to raise £127,000, representing the 1 in 3 people born today who will die with dementia. Funds raised support the Race Against Dementia Fellows’ Leadership Programme, helping researchers work together at an “F1 level” of teamwork and innovation.

Today is a powerful reminder that while dementia touches many lives, progress is possible when people come together with purpose and hope. 💜

Sometimes, a simple cuppa can make a big difference ☕💜

Today is Brew Monday, a day that encourages people to pause, connect, and check in on one another, especially during the winter months when feelings of loneliness can feel stronger.

Here at Alexander Care Home, sharing a cup of tea or coffee is about much more than the drink itself. It’s about conversation, companionship, and creating moments where residents feel listened to, valued, and supported.

Brew Monday was created by the Samaritans to turn so called “Blue Monday” into an opportunity for connection and emotional wellbeing, something we believe in wholeheartedly. Whether it’s residents chatting together, staff taking time to listen, or families popping in for a brew, these small moments can have a powerful impact.

If today inspires you, why not:

☕️ Share a brew with someone you care about

☕️ Take time to listen and talk openly

☕️ Reach out to someone who might appreciate a friendly check-in

Sometimes, the warmest support starts with a warm cup. ☕✨

🎶 Musical Moments like these make our mornings extra special 🎶

This morning, our residents were singing, dancing and smiling along to YMCA, complete with the iconic hats to match! 💃🕺

Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, lifting spirits and sparking memories, and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the moment together.

A brilliant start to the day, full of laughter, movement and community 💜

A question we're often asked is if you can bring personal belongings with you when you move into Alexander Care Home.

The answer answer is yes, of course you can.

We encourage residents to bring personal possessions that help their room feel familiar and comforting from day one.

You’re welcome to display photographs and pictures using proper fixings, and our handyman is always happy to help make sure everything is put up safely.

For added reassurance, valuables can be kept securely in our safe, and each room also includes lockable storage. We simply ask that you speak with us beforehand about bringing valuable items, so we can make the right arrangements together.

Because feeling at home isn’t just about the care, it’s about the little personal touches that make a space truly yours. 🏡✨

🎄✨ A little Christmas throwback… ✨🎄

We were having such a lovely time on Christmas Day that we didn’t even get chance to share these moments at the time!

Here’s a look back at our residents enjoying their Christmas Day dinner, a day filled with great food, warm conversations and plenty of festive cheer around the table. It was a relaxed, happy celebration and a wonderful way to spend the day together at Alexander Care Home 💜

Sometimes the best moments are the ones you’re too busy enjoying to post ✨

🎈 Friday Fun at Alexander Care Home! 🎈

There’s nothing like a bit of colour and laughter to brighten up a Friday, and our residents certainly brought both today!

With the help of our wonderful team, we enjoyed a lively balloon activity session… blowing them up, batting them around the room, and sharing plenty of smiles along the way.

Simple moments like these are what we love most – bringing joy, movement, and connection to the end of the week.

Here’s to more fun, more laughter, and many more colourful Fridays together 💜
