Thursday TIPS... for new Pilates participants

For new participants, one of the best ways you can get the most from your class, is to stand in the middle of the room, try to avoid the back of the room. Once you're all lying down you'll struggle to see what the instructor is demonstrating.

You will likely spend alot of the session lying down. If you're in a room with 25 (or more) participants, with people of various heights. You'll limit your ability to see what the instructor is doing standing at the back

Remember participants behind are all focusing on the instructor, not you. If anyone standing behind is watching you it might because they can't see the instructor.

Self improvement: practicing new habits

Every year, lent comes around, I think "oo wouldn't it be good to do something to test myself?" I think "Oo I could give up chocolate or something else??" but I forget every year. I've realised, practising discipline doesn't have to be about giving something up, I think giving up something might be whats 'stopped' me from committing to being consistent. I've decided to use this period to introduce some consistent self care.

I've yet to decide what it will be or how long i will commit to add but some suggestions are
* Drink water - I go through phases but currently if i drink 500mls is a good day!?!
* Walk more - I walk cause i have to, i park my car as close to work dorr as possible and i haven't been for a walk for months.
* Exercise for myself - I'm not enjoying the gym since i moved, i have to find a hook something i enjoy
* Morning self care - meditate, read a self help book, move (walk/stretch something not checking my phone)
* Have a consistent bed time routine - if i'm asleep before midnight i'm winning

Thinking of starting a small habit too? Share yours below.

I'll be sharing weekly wellness and, or fitness related tips and information

Thursdays tips...

If during a fitness class you don't understand an exercise, or would like correction, make a mental note of the exercise in question. At the beginning or end of the session ask the instructor to show you the best way or for corrections.

Ask at a sensible time before a session, or better still, if you can contact the instructor directly to ask if they have time to provide the support you're asking for.

There is usually so much going on in a class, with a room of people doing exercise, instructors don't always have time during to provide 1:1 corrections to everyone all the time.

Instructors love fitness and helping others succeed in their fitness goals. This is why we do what we do, at least thats why I do what I do.

About last night....

I very rarely post pictures of my classes because I'm forgetful. If it's not written down, it doesn't exist or happen. I've also only brain space for remembering the names of the exercises, and the analogies or visualisations that or that appear in my head when they happen. IFYKYK

I'm engrossed in the class, and having fun. Because honestly, we laugh a lot, possibly too much?? I'm fairly certain Pilates is supposed to be more serious, if so whoops!

DID YOU KNOW....

I teach a Chair Pilates class, Tuesday's 12.15pm - 1pm at Batley Community Centre. The class is followed by a drink and something sweet (unless like me, you're sweet enough ;) :D)

This class is great for anyone who
- Can't get down onto the floor to participate in a Pilates class
- Needs low level and gentle exercise
- Starting exercise from the start due to health reason can't attend a Pilates matwork session.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, comment below or direct message me for more information
