Hi there, I’m Chantal from Dragonfly Acupuncture Leeds and I’m delighted to bring my acupuncture practice right to your doorstep in Leeds. Taking care of your health should be a seamless, calming experience, and that's why I offer mobile acupuncture.
If you are new to home visits, you might be wondering how it all works. Rest assured, I aim to make the process as relaxing and professional as it is in my clinic.
Here is a guide on what you can expect from our home visit session, from the initial set-up to the lasting benefits.
Your Acupuncture Home Visit: A Personalised Journey to Balance with Chantal
Choosing a home visit means you get to prioritise your wellbeing without navigating Leeds traffic or worrying about scheduling a commute. I handle everything, so your focus can be entirely on healing and relaxation.
Before I Arrive
Our session actually begins before I ring your doorbell. To ensure the treatment is tailored specifically to you, we may have a brief consultation call to discuss your health history, current concerns, and goals. Or we might have a written conversation at time of booking your appointment.
• Phone or Video Call: This allows you to get to know me a bit before my visit and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
•
• At the Start of the Visit: We will always go through your full consultation before your first treatment, this is your opportunity to share your journey so far, your health issues etc. We take our time to go into detail.
Preparing Your Space:
I will bring everything needed—including a comfortable, professional treatment table, sterile single-use needles, and any supplementary therapies (like moxibustion or cupping or massage)
Your role is simple:
• Clear a Small Space: I need a quiet, comfortable area to set up the treatment table. This doesn't need to be huge, just enough room for the table and for me to work comfortably.
•
• Wear Loose Clothing: Please wear or have available comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. This ensures easy and respectful access to common acupuncture points, usually located on the lower legs, arms, and back.
•
During Our Session
My goal is to replicate the professional atmosphere of a clinic, combined with the profound relaxation of being in your own home.
1. Arrival & Set-up
When I arrive, I will greet you and find the space you’ve prepared. I'll set up the treatment table with a cosy cover and get all the pins etc out, ready for use.
2. Consultation (If Not Completed)
If we haven't already, we will review your health concerns in more detail. This involves discussing specific symptoms and, as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis, I may gently take your pulse and look at your tongue.
3. Your Personalised Treatment Plan
Based on our discussion and diagnosis, I will explain my proposed treatment plan. I'll outline where I intend to place the needles and answer any questions you may have.
4. Needle Insertion
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points along the body’s meridians. The experience is rarely painful. Clients often describe the sensation as a dull ache, a slight pinch, or a feeling of warmth or heaviness.
5. The Rest & Recharge Phase
This is your time. Once the needles are in, I typically leave them in place for about 15–30 minutes. You are free to simply relax and listen to your breathing. Some clients feel a profound sense of calm, while others even drift into a light sleep. During this time, I may gently manipulate the needles or use supplementary techniques if we've discussed them.
6. Needle Removal
I will gently and efficiently remove the needles, ensuring your comfort throughout.
After the Session
The effects of acupuncture continue after the needles are removed.
• Post-Treatment Sensations: You might feel deeply relaxed, slightly drowsy, or even unexpectedly energized. These are common and positive signs. Minor redness or occasional bruising at the needle sites may occur, but this is temporary.
• Hydration: It's essential to stay hydrated, so I always recommend drinking plenty of water after your treatment.
• Follow-up Recommendations: We’ll discuss how you feel and talk about the recommended frequency for future treatments to maintain the benefits we’ve awakened.
• Efficient Departure: I will pack up my supplies and ensure my equipment is properly cleaned before I head back on the road to go to my next appointment.
