I hope you are well on this Friday 15th January - and keeping warm!

As a health service, we can still open. So I am treating those who do not have to 'shield' and who have a medical need - this might be where you struggle with a physical ailment, or a mental health condition that is deteriorating, such as increasing anxiety, or a worsening physical condition.

Before a session I will need to speak to you to see if it is advisable to come along. Plus we are, as a profession following strict Covid guidelines

Wishing you well,
look after yourselves and look after others

Despite the Tier 3 of Leeds, we are able to practice 'careful practice'. This means that you can book in if you have an urgent medical need, or if a condition is likely to deteriorate if not treated.

It's great to be able to offer our services in this difficult time - whether for stress or pain - you are welcome to phone or book in.

Wishing you the best of health

Happily we can treat those that are in need at the current time: this means that if your condition is in decline or it will help you avoid a visit to our overstretched NHS, then you can have treatment. Call f you have a question. Kind regards Giles

Back in the 1930s British researchers ran two controlled trials on cod liver oil and viral respiratory infections. The first study found that after giving the fish oil (rich in vitamin D) to adults for 4 months it reduced colds by 50%. In the second study it reduced time off work due to respiratory infections by 30%. This led to the Ministry of Food issuing vitamins and fish oils to every household in the country to help prevent disease during WWII. So I am not saying that this is a cure, but worthy of investigation. As they say - there may be benefits and little consequence...

Interest in a potential role for vitamin D in the prevention or treatment of acute respiratory infections dates back to the 1930s, when cod liver oil was investigated as a means to reduce industrial absenteeism due to the common cold. Meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials conducted from 2007...

In the context of the NICE forthcoming guidance for chronic pain (which includes acupuncture) Paul Crisp, the guideline centre director for NICE, has just been on BBC Radio 4, World at One. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000lgj5 (look around 26:30) talking about the evidence against painkillers and the evidence FOR exercise, CBT and… acupuncture for decreasing pain and increasing quality of life.

I suspect that some people will be opposed and some for. I wonder what our motives are for these decisions?
As we come out of the 'lockdown' period, the clinic in Chapel Allerton is opening. As part of this we are asking clients to wear masks when they come. We see this as being the best practice we can offer, meaning we keep as safe and well as possible.
Wishing you all the best of health
