1). What Matters The Most -
General Considerations;

To provide safe accessible spaces to facilitate community interaction with opportunities for social inclusion, therapies, learning and growth; Supporting the community with on line and real world spaces for connections, understanding and problem solving with what matters the most. We will provide community spaces to meet, talk, gather, get organised, learn and share knowledge on daily living skills and crisis management while we'll also provide an On-line community platform to gather and spread knowledge of all local services’ events and fund raisers. S.A.F.E community spaces will be somewhere for local people to gather and connect, to pursue shared interests and/or activities; both social and formal while following our mission and approach (See CIC 36 form). The facilitated activities will be focused on finding and promoting community led sustainable solutions, targeting community interests and needs. activities will promote / create / facilitate groups following mission and approach in 4 main areas:

*Support groups
Tackling hardship and isolation through wellness, recovery and Social Inclusion, from human library to tackle isolation to Peer support-led talking therapies, educational life skills sessions to Recovery and growth.

*Action groups
on what matters need action from donation drives to litter picking, traffic monitoring (Speed watches), neighbourhood support (Inc. Elderly reach out) and local alert responses.

*Focus groups
form in house to local community news, views to problems and solving and awareness of concerns on line and off
ie Create Community steering boards
(Age profiles targeted - 25) to mould the communities and S.A.F.E. future.

*Exercise groups
Indoor/outdoor to address communities needs and limits and what the local area can provide, encouraging people to be active , with low cost alternatives for staying healthy

S.A.F.E. will provide a safe environment that is warm, dry, non-judgemental and inclusive of diversity with clear respectful boundaries. This can mean a community space could be a wide range of places – not tied down to one specific building, with S.A.F.E. becoming a local resource of accessible spaces . So a space can actually be a whole / part building / church / community hall, garden / allotment, sports or leisure space during an associated / facilitated activity. This can lead to vital community asset and infrastructure protection by promoting community usage. S.A.F.E will develop and manage access to good-quality, well-maintained public spaces to help to improve our physical and mental health and well-being by encouraging the community to socialise more, promoting activity, or offering opportunities for learning and growth. Providing our community spaces will be a powerful weapon in promoting a healthier lifestyle. Benefits are;

Giving people from all backgrounds a voice in shaping the future of their communities. Improving emotional well-being. Improving life and practical skills. Focusing on ways to innovate, motivate and elevate the community to utilise surrounding spaces and repurpose existing assets in new innovative projects. are committed to finding, setting up, organising & running sustainable projects, creating safe and accessible Spaces in the community, that adapt & respond to the community’s needs. Taking on community ownership of unused assets that ranges from inside spaces, whole properties or part occupied/shared spaces to outside spaces from neglected local areas to shared ownership of gardens and leisure spaces. Activities will support the community to work with local / district authorities, landlords, local businesses and property owners to unlock the community value of these assets in 4 main areas of common good;

*Equality
Embracing a diversity of people and ideas & championing respectful, non-discriminatory, inclusive attitudes and behaviours for all involved in S.A.F.E. Processes and spaces. With the existing challenges and burdens placed on local authority’s financial responsibilities, there are a significant number of existing community assets in the surrounding Leek and Moorlands area that are currently unused (fully or partly), neglected or under /de-funded and/or unstaffed. With the local cost of living crisis many other landlords and trustees have unused spaces that could become a source of community value. Community asset ie, Bank House (Grade 2), in Leek town centre was given back to local authority control for the use of supporting the community three years ago. Due to local economical conditions, it has laid empty since. Only costing for its maintenance and repair, reaching a record high in repairs this year 2023, resulting in threats of a potential future sale for commercial development. Bank House was donated to the community in 1984 there for be used for the community. by S.A.F.E unlocking all / part of community assets we will use these safe spaces, to unify and organise community-led support by becoming an official provider of multi-office/multi-space and function rooms, that would service the community’s needs committed to a strategic, organised and accountable use of public assets, with the future goal of returning all possible unused spaces/assets back into sustainable community resources. Benefits are;

All S.A.F.E. controlled spaces will be environmentally and economically sustainable with achievable self-funding and eco-friendly goals. To utilise and expand communities use of local assets. Protecting community assets for future generations use. Improvement of local spaces by promoting projects that update and improve their accessibility for public use. Support the local economy through cooperation with local businesses and local property agents /holders. Embracing projects and groups that support positive Equality attitudes, values and behaviours. This can include facilitating heavier demands with flexible spaces, as well as hosting, organising and bridging local efforts and costs under the S.A.F.E. umbrella. We can form working partnerships with other community interest companies/projects that share our mission and values to reduce costs and spread/expand demand. activities will create local alliance following mission and approach in 4 main areas:

Volunteering; Committed to finding, setting up, organising & running sustainable projects with local volunteers and assets.

*Equality

In supporting other services and/or outreach projects we can reduce the impact of isolation, neglect and hopelessness through the unity of community. Thus relieving increased demand on critical services. With some services facing a higher demand, funding challenges and an increase in cost of delivering these services then a safe warm space to share awareness, gather and spread community knowledge and solutions without adding any extra burden to existing services benefits the community. We will promote charities, CIC's, services and organisations that share our mission and approach to deliver their objectives in our safe spaces with the intention of increasing their use and garnering further support from the shared community. We hope to explore opportunities to increase the volunteer workers pool and their experience opportunities, as well as helping community members return to work where possible by assisting with the creation of CVs, applying for jobs and advice on interview techniques. 4). Equality promoted through diverse values and behaviours -

General Considerations;

Equality and diversity are essential components of health and social care. Good equality and diversity practices make sure that the services provided to people are fair and accessible to everyone. Will ensure that people are treated as equals, that people get the dignity and respect they deserve and that their differences are celebrated. activities will create local equality following mission and approach in 4 main areas:

*Supportive
Set up a diversity committee to engage with the community and promote community led themes and projects.

*Accountability

*Fellowship

* Equality
Explain diverse concepts that impact the community as well as holding and/or facilitating diversity training. Our approach to diversity and promoting equality will be two fold. Secondly, establishing an inclusive resilient constitution with clear policies and guidelines applicable to all, from Directors, volunteers, and local services and/or public to local/district authorities, landlords and trustees that safeguards all rights and values to those that commit to our mission and our approach. Urgent Call to Action:

Help Safe.cic Get Loud in Leek!

Our community needs a safe space to feel safe, secure, seen and soothed, where community problems are actually tackled with some common sense and a common action plan and Safe.cic is here to listen. But right now, not enough people know we exist!

We've been laying the groundwork, ensuring we can truly deliver on our promises. But without a bigger voice, we can't reach those who need us most.

Here's the challenge: We need to hit 1,000 Likes on Facebook. That's equal to just 16% of local residents – a small number with a huge impact.

Why is this urgent? Because awareness is key. The more people who know about Safe.cic, the more people can get the help they deserve and being a community intrest company will give us a better understanding of what matters the most to Leek community.

Is Leek just a tourist town? Is it as long as it looks good on the outside on sunny hot days with lovely outdoor activities, where is the concern? Is the fountain not working Leeks biggest problem?

If the answers No this is how can you help? It's simple:

Share our page to your friends list! Every Like brings us closer to that 1,000 target.

Spread the word! Tell your friends, family, and neighbors about Safe.cic.

And for the brave Share our page on your own social media.

The Top 3 people who invite the most new Likes will win a special "Gift of Kindness" as a token of our appreciation!

Don't wait! Let's work together to build a stronger, safer Leek.

We are all worth it!

Stay safe, stay connected and have a kind day!

IT'S VOLUNTEERS WEEK!
Every year, the amazing contribution of volunteers is celebrated in the first week of June. This year is extra special as it is the 40th year of !

Starting in 1984, Volunteers have been celebrated at events, open days, parties, in person, virtually and by post to say a huge THANK YOU for all of the incredible work that they do.

Most Volunteers like to quietly get on with what they do best and don’t seek the limelight, so this is our chance to seek them out and say a very heartfelt thank you for all that they do. Do you know someone who volunteers? Give them a ‘Thank You!’ when you can, and if the volunteer is you, then a very big THANK YOU to you too!
