Today's Sangha meditation session for Peace in our beautiful space.
Six of us began by grounding and bringing calm to ourselves. We talked about what Peace means to each one of us and how we can find stillness and calm within ourselves when things in our outer world may appear and feel chaotic. A meditation practice can develop resilience to circumstances and situations that present themselves within our personal lives and the wider world. It is learning to pause, breathe and respond, rather than react to our outer world.
Once we become calm and centred we may experience clarity, and we make choices that are our right action.
Today I shared the wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh from his book Fear (p101- 105 Blue Sky Above Clouds) He wrote "When we act as a Community of practitioners, infused with the energy of mindfulness and compassion, we are powerful... With a community to walk with us, support us, and always remind us of the blue sky, we'll never lose our faith, and our fear dissolves...We all need a community, a sangha, to prevent us from sinking in the swamp of despair."
Community is important and I feel we have lost sight of the importance of connection, compassion and understanding, mainly because underneath it all a large proportion of society unconsciously operate from fear.
For me, I feel that what we are creating here in Getliffe's Yard, Leek is sangha, a community of like minded people who are choosing to explore their Spiritual connection. We are all here to support each other on life's journey and every single one of us has value and unique gifts to offer.
We finished with a 20 minute meditation practice.
I will be leading and teaching meditation classes for beginners to equip you with the tools and techniques to develop your own practice at home and practice mindfulness throughout your day.
Peace be with you.
