Sybils Folly And The Eternal Roadworks

Sybils Folly And The Eternal Roadworks The newest Attraction in North Staffordshire can boast people queueing for miles just to drive past this landmark.

A superb example of Council planning and incompetence along with money grabbing and useless contractors.

This is the real reason behind the creation of the folly. It was a terrible problem in Leek.

Tomorrow is the start of the three week slow drive through of the Folly.
The first phase in an ambitious plan by SCC.

Phase 1 To be completed sometime this year, maybe.
Replace all the broken cobles on the various crossings and give them 7 days to settle in and get to know their surroundings before being put to work as big stones in a road.

Phase 2 to be started about 6 months after the new new cobbles have been put in.
Cover up everything with tarmac and hope nobody notices it.

Phase 3 To be carried on ad infinite um.
Blame it on the contractor who was the cheapest the SCC could get and yet not try to claim a penny back for the shoddy work.

Phase 4 To be announced when council elections are due
Turning all the islands in the crossings into "Green Spaces" by letting grass and weeds grow between the tarmac and cobbles.

Phase 5 Probably sooner than we think.
Take down all the traffic lights and paint a big white circle in the middle of the road for everyone to drive around.

There has been a delay to the refurbishment tourism traffic of a week. Sorry for the delay of the delay.

Today we have a special added attraction to the Folly in the form of an Ice Rink.
Come one, come all.
Have a skate or use the cold granite seats to watch others enjoying the ice.

We are pleased (if somewhat belated) to announce that Sybil Ralphs, the driving force behind the folly, has been honoured in the Queens birthday honours. She has been awarded the Order of the Magic Garter, a member of the Women's Town Facilitators, and a Fellow of the Fishtank Service. She will now be known as Sybil Ralphs OMG WTF FFS.

The Eternal Roadworks are back but just for night time however there will be more work in a months time so it's all good.

Roadworks are again to hit three of Leek town centre's busiest roads causing night-time closures. The Post & Times reported in February that parts of Haywood Street and in front of the Nicholson...

And so the Roadworks are set to return. A cause for celebration.

And so the Roadworks are set to return. A cause for celebration.

One of Leek's busiest roads has again started to crack and sink – raising fears the town will have to suffer yet more roadworks and disruption. The new road layout at the bottom of Derby...
