NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have been collecting feedback from people affected by the pause in services at St Mary’s Birth Centre, Melton.

They have listened to local feedback and have widened the engagement so more people can take part.

They still want to hear from:
➡️ people who were planning or considering giving birth at St Mary’s Birth Centre between July 2025 and September 2026 but were (or are) unable to do so because of the pause
➡️ family members or carers of these individuals
➡️ staff who worked at St Mary’s Birth Centre before the pause in service
➡️ staff and students working in the maternity services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland

They are also now inviting people who used St Mary’s between January 2021 and July 2025 to share their experience.

The questionnaire will be available until Sunday 15 February and there are two more focus groups people can register for:


For patients (or partners/family/carers) who planned on or considered using St Mary's between July 2025 and September 2026:
Thursday 5 Feb | 6.30pm to 8pm | Online

For patients (or partners/family/carers) who used St Mary’s between January 2021 and July 2025:
Wednesday 11 Feb | 6pm to 7.30pm | Online

Feedback will help them understand the impact of the pause and support planning for future maternity services.

Today it was all hands on deck to get our Every Woman's Health survey leaflets in envelopes ✉️ to every GP practice in the city and county.

If you see a leaflet at your surgery, drop us a smile in the comments ☺️⬇️

Our contract has been extended for another year until 31 March 2027.

It has been a challenging period but we are proud to continue delivering Healthwatch in Leicester and Leicestershire.

As we look ahead, we want to understand what is working well and where we can improve. If you are a VCSE professional who has worked with us in the last year, we are keen to hear from you.

Your feedback will help shape our priorities and strengthen the way we work with partners.

The Stakeholder Survey is aimed at strategic and operational stakeholder partners. It is not intended for members of the public.
