I just want to post about the apparent viral Tik Tok challenge. There have been a number of children reported missing on Leicester and Leicestershire police pages, and from comments I’ve read the most recent are mainly due to this challenge where teens are encouraged to ‘go missing’ for 72 hours. If this Video is true and the reason of an increased number of teenagers going missing, Then I urge TikTok to look into this, and for any young person to think for themselves, and of the impact this could have. It’s not just the worry you put on family and friends, or police time and resources, but the real danger you could put yourselves or others in. Thankfully those most recently have been found safe and well. However, my concern is that we are going to get a boy who cried wolf community, where people no longer believe the missing person concern, share posts, or look for the young person that is truly missing and in danger, because people think ‘it’s just the trend they’ll show up in 72 hours’. That wait could be too late, those that want to harm will see an opportunity, and when someone is really in need and shouts for help, help doesn’t come. We can’t let that happen!
