Here’s one for you…

If you could choose one of the below, which would it be?

1. Glasses that never need cleaning 🧼
2. Glasses that don’t steam up 💨
3. Glasses that never get lost 🤦🏽‍♀️
4. Glasses that have wipers 💧

I would without a doubt go for #1 😂

Say no to paper towels and clothing for cleaning your glasses! Opt for a microfiber cloth to avoid potential scratches.

Your specs will thank you!🤓

Redness of the eye can indicate the presence of several different health issues. While some of these issues are not long term problems, most serious eye problems happen when you have redness along with pain or changes in your vision.

Allergies, dry eye condition or conjunctivitis are a few of the causes of red eyes, but a visit to your local independent optician (oh hey, that’s us!) will be an effective way of finding a solution.

“We would love to hear from fathers everywhere who want to tell their sons what it means to them to be a father and pass on some pearls of wisdom” ~ Orly Klein and Stephen Graham

We’re proud to support the forthcoming Bloomsbury book, Letters to Our Sons.

Stephen Graham is dyslexic himself and knows that finding the right words isn’t always easy. That’s why this campaign isn’t about perfect spelling or grammar. It’s about honesty, reflection, and sharing what really matters.

If you’re a father writing to your son, your letter can pass on strength, self-belief, and lived experience - qualities that resonate strongly with many dyslexic thinkers.

Selected letters may appear in the book Letters to Our Sons, out October 2026 Bloomsbury Publishing UK

Your jumper may be clean, and it may be lovely and soft, but a lens cloth it isn't!

Fibres such as wool can scratch any special coatings added to your spectacle lenses.

Also avoid using hand soap or baby wipes to clean your lenses, these commonly have moisturising properties that can lead to a hazy residue after cleaning!

Is it safe to read with low lighting?

There's no evidence reading in poor light damages eyes. However, reading with low light puts more strain on the eyes to make out words, making reading more strenuous and causing your eyes to get tired quicker, potentially resulting in red eyes and headaches.

So if you want to finish that book, or at least get to the end of the chapter, move closer to a light source or make the light brighter. Your eyes will thank you for it🤓

Which is your dominant eye?

Ocular dominance, or dominant eye, is when you use one eye more than the other, have better vision in one eye, or can fixate on something better with one eye.

Knowing which eye is dominant can be important for performing activities that require you to focus on a target such as in baseball or cricket 🏏🥎

Are you in the '2% club'? 👀

That's the number of the people in the world with green eyes- the rarest of iris colours.

Whilst green eyes appear that lovely shade of emerald to the outside observer, the irises themselves have no actual pigment!
