Your jumper may be clean, and it may be lovely and soft, but a lens cloth it isn't!

Fibres such as wool can scratch any special coatings added to your spectacle lenses.

Also avoid using hand soap or baby wipes to clean your lenses, these commonly have moisturising properties that can lead to a hazy residue after cleaning!

Is it safe to read with low lighting?

There's no evidence reading in poor light damages eyes. However, reading with low light puts more strain on the eyes to make out words, making reading more strenuous and causing your eyes to get tired quicker, potentially resulting in red eyes and headaches.

So if you want to finish that book, or at least get to the end of the chapter, move closer to a light source or make the light brighter. Your eyes will thank you for it๐Ÿค“

Which is your dominant eye?

Ocular dominance, or dominant eye, is when you use one eye more than the other, have better vision in one eye, or can fixate on something better with one eye.

Knowing which eye is dominant can be important for performing activities that require you to focus on a target such as in baseball or cricket ๐Ÿ๐ŸฅŽ

Are you in the '2% club'? ๐Ÿ‘€

That's the number of the people in the world with green eyes- the rarest of iris colours.

Whilst green eyes appear that lovely shade of emerald to the outside observer, the irises themselves have no actual pigment!

A condition called heterochromia causes the iris to be different colours!

People with this condition may have different colours within one eye (for example, the iris may be half one colour and half another), or they may have a different colour in each eye. Most often, heterochromia results from a harmless gene change.

Colour blindness is where you see colours differently to most people, and have difficulty telling colours apart.

The most common type of colour vision deficiency makes it hard to tell the difference between red and green, and men are far more likely to be colour-blind than women because they only have one X chromosome, whereas women have two and can have one colour-blindness gene while retaining good colour vision.

Can the amount of sleep we get affect our vision?

Our eyes need at least five hours of sleep to replenish themselves so that they can function effectively throughout the day. ๐Ÿ’ค๐Ÿ˜ด

This goes beyond being able to keep our eyes open. Over time, the less sleep we get, the more likely we are to experience eye strain, dry eye, and even eye twitches.
