Have you ever noticed your dog “bunny hopping”? 🐇That’s when both back legs move together instead of alternating them.

Dogs may do this to reduce strain on sore joints, adjusting how they move to stay more comfortable. Typically found in dogs with hip dysplasia, arthritis, knee injuries, or muscle strain.

So what should you watch for?
Stiffness after rest, slowing down on walks, hesitation to jump or use stairs, or difficulty getting up. These small changes can be early indicators of discomfort and might benefit from Veterinary intervention.

💙 Meet Max 🐾

Max is such a lovely, gentle dog, who is always a pleasure to have around.

He uses water treadmill therapy to help manage his arthritis related joint pain, keeping him comfortable and supporting his day to day mobility.
It’s great to see him moving well and enjoying life 🥰

🐾 Canine Anatomy Day – For Professionals & Dog Owners** 🐾

Join us for a relaxed and informative Anatomy day designed for both professionals and passionate dog owners alike.

🧭 Date. 17th April.
📅 **Time:** 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
💷 **Cost:** £55 per person
🗺️ Location. Naggs head, East Leake.

This hands on day is all about giving you a clearer, practical insight into how muscles work and where they sit within the canine body. It’s perfect if you’re a professional wanting to build confidence in your knowledge, or a dog owner who’s simply curious and keen to learn more.

You’ll be guided by Nina, Veterinary Physiotherapist, whose incredible knowledge makes anatomy easy to understand and genuinely interesting—no matter your experience level.

📘 Anatomy guides are included, so you can follow along and take everything you learn home with you.

✨ It’s a friendly, relaxed day with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, chat, and really get to grips with how dogs move.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to grab your spot early!

Underwater footage isn’t just cool to watch, it’s a game changer. 📸🤳

By capturing movement beneath the surface, we give owners a clearer view of what’s really happening during a session.

Even more importantly, it helps us as therapists see limb movement in a way that’s often impossible from the outside. In turn, helping to reveal subtle patterns, compensations, and progress that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Better insight. Better understanding. Better outcomes. 💧💪

Hydrotherapy isn’t one size fits all; especially for narrow, slim dogs like whippets 🐾💧

🏊‍♂️ Pool therapy is great for fitness, but narrow dogs can struggle with balance and buoyancy. This can lead to uneven movement, overcompensation, and quicker fatigue.
💦 Water treadmill therapy offers a safer, more controlled option. It promotes straight, balanced movement with adjustable water levels for support; while helping to build strength evenly.

⭐️ For long, lean dogs, water treadmill therapy is often the better choice for controlled, effective rehabilitation and conditioning.

⭐️. As a sponsor all we ask is that our owner’s dogs enjoy their sport to their fullest, while being as fit and healthy as they possibly can. 💨

A massive congratulations to Northants
Falcons for their achievements over the four days at Crufts. The adults made the final 16 💪, while the Juniors nailed it coming away with the bronze medal. 🥉

Safety always comes first — for your dog, for you, and for our team 🐾

In the clinic environment, even the sweetest dogs can feel overwhelmed. New smells, unfamiliar people, and hands on assessments can sometimes cause anxiety; and an anxious dog may react out of character.
That’s why, if we feel a dog may be stressed or unsure, we may recommend or require a muzzle during their session.
A muzzle is not a sign of a “bad dog.” It’s a proactive safety tool that allows us to work calmly and confidently, without adding pressure to your dog or risking anyone getting hurt. When everyone feels safe, your dog can relax more too.

✨ Important note: Muzzle training should be introduced well before your appointment. A muzzle should be something your dog associates with positive experiences, not something placed on them for the very first time in a stressful environment.
Gradual, reward-based training at home makes all the difference.

If you’re unsure how to start muzzle training, we’re happy to guide you toward helpful resources.

We aim to create a safe, supportive space for every patient 🩶

We had such a brilliant CPD day yesterday with a small group of local therapists, exploring canine anatomy and painting dogs’ muscles to really bring structure and movement to life 🐶🎨

Our wonderful dog models behaved impeccably all day, standing patiently so everyone could learn, observe and get hands on. We couldn’t have asked for better teachers!

We are so grateful for a day of learning and collaborating with such a lovely group.

Thank you as always to Nina's Veterinary Physiotherapy- Home visits for canine physiotherapy for sharing your huge wealth of knowledge.
And Rich at nagsheadel for the excellent venue.
