Hi everyone!

I recently travelled to Warwick to complete training with LCN, the Wilde Pedique Silver plus System, a medical grade toenail reconstruction designed to restore and protect damaged, thickened, or fungal nails. Although we can offer a gel overlay, this isn’t about replacing salon acrylics or gels, it is a medical treatment focused on rebuilding the nails safely using antimicrobial silver to support healing and natural regrowth.

❌ DIABETIC FOOT ULCER! ❌

Why are people with diabetes at risk of ulcers?

Foot and lower leg ulcers are one of the many problems caused by poorly controlled diabetes. Diabetes damages blood vessels throughout the body. Tiny blood vessels that supply the nerves in the legs may be affected, resulting in burning pain or numbness in the feet (peripheral neuropathy) and reduced pain sensation. Calluses, blisters, cuts, burns and ingrowing toenails can all lead to diabetic foot ulcers. A patient might not be aware of these minor injuries due to peripheral neuropathy, so ulcers may develop and enlarge before they are noticed - like in my patients case.

Unfortunately this new patient of mine was completely unaware of what was going on under their foot and we discovered an infected foot ulcer. Bone underlying an ulcer may become infected if the ulcer is deep and unfortunately antibiotics have no effect on dead bone. Once bone is dead, it should be removed, usually by amputation.

Unfortunately this ulcer will now result in the loss of my clients foot. This is why seeking help from a professional is SO important when dealing with diabetes, even if you think you’re fine or ‘it won’t happen to me’
Always be vigilant.

We didn’t get the result we hoped for, but we have prevented a further loss of this patients leg and further infection and routine foot care will commence 🤞🏻
