☀️🍓 Fun in the Sun at Our Home 🍹🌸

This morning our residents made the most of the beautiful sunshine, enjoying some refreshing fresh fruits and delicious fruit juices out in the garden.

As we relaxed together, we spent time watching the planes fly overhead, which sparked some lovely conversations about past holidays and favourite destinations. ✈️💭

We also took in the beauty of the flowers around us, sharing ideas and inspiration for new additions to our garden – we can’t wait to bring some of these to life! 🌼🌿

To top it all off, we enjoyed listening to music together, with today’s favourite being the heartwarming classic “You Are My Sunshine” – filling the garden with smiles and singing. 🎶💛

Moments like these are so special, supporting wellbeing through fresh air, social interaction, reminiscence, and pure enjoyment. 🌞

Happy St Patrick’s Day! 🍀💚

We’ve had a fantastic day full of fun and celebration! Residents enjoyed listening to lively Irish music, with plenty of dancing and smiles all around. We also had great fun playing balloon games with our St Patrick’s themed balloon, followed by an exciting game of prize bingo.

In the afternoon, some residents relaxed in the cinema room watching The Quiet Man, while others kept their minds active with themed word searches.

Our talented chef also added a special touch to the day by adapting the dessert menu, giving residents the chance to try some delicious treats including Irish dirt pudding and puff pastry shamrocks served with green custard – they went down a treat!

A wonderful day enjoyed by all, filled with laughter, music, and a touch of Irish cheer ☘️

🌸 Mother’s Day Celebrations 🌸

Yesterday at our home, we came together to celebrate Mother’s Day in the most heartwarming way. Our wonderful residents and staff spent the morning creating beautiful decorations, filling the home with colour, love, and creativity.

Some of our residents chose to sit together and reminisce, sharing touching stories about their own mothers and their experiences of being a mum. These conversations sparked so many special memories, bringing comfort, connection, and plenty of smiles.

In the afternoon, we continued the celebrations with a lovely afternoon tea. Residents enjoyed a selection of delicious snacks alongside some 0% wine, making it a real treat for everyone. The day ended on a high with a fun-filled karaoke session, where both residents and staff sang their hearts out to some favourite classics 🎤

It was a truly special day celebrating love, memories, and the incredible role of mothers 💖

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmas and mother figures out there 💐💙

At Sidney Shakers we are so lucky to see so many special moments between little ones and the amazing adults in their lives, whether that’s Mums, Grandmas, Carers or Family Friends. Many of the residents at all the lovely homes we visit are mothers and grandmothers themselves, and today we’re celebrating them too. The love, laughter and cuddles shared during our sessions is something truly magical 💕

Today we’re celebrating all the incredible women who nurture, support and bring so much joy to the next generation. Thank you for everything you do 👏🏼💐

Look at two of our beautiful residents after enjoying their lovely hand pamper session here at Five Rivers. 💅✨

Residents have the opportunity to take part in our relaxing pamper sessions where they can enjoy a nail trim, file, nail paint and a gentle hand massage. It’s always wonderful to see the smiles on their faces once their nails are finished and they are feeling refreshed and glamorous.

These sessions are not only about looking good, but also about feeling good. Pamper time can help promote relaxation, boost self-esteem and provide lovely one-to-one social interaction. The gentle hand massage can also help with circulation and provides soothing sensory stimulation, which is especially beneficial for residents living with dementia.

It’s safe to say our residents were feeling very pleased with their beautiful nails today! 💖
