🎅 A Visit from Santa🎅

Santa’s visit to Watermead Rose care home filled the home with warmth, laughter, and a touch of festive magic 💫

Dressed in his red suit and carrying a sack of gifts, he took time to greet each resident, sharing smiles and holiday cheer 🎁

Many residents reminisced about Christmases past, their faces lighting up as carols played softly in the background.

Our hearts melted seeing how emotional some of them got meeting Santa and how happy his visit made them ❤️

The visit brought a sense of togetherness and joy, reminding everyone that the spirit of Christmas is found in kindness, connection, and shared moments 🎄🎅

What a special and very magical time, thank you Santa for bringing such joy to our residents 🙏 ❤️

🎄🎤 Christmas Eve 🎶🎄

Our residents enjoyed a lovely singalong on Christmas Eve.

Lizzy Rushby sang a medley of Christmas classics and Christmas carols which got everyone in the festive spirit.

After singing along they all enjoyed some bubbles and mince pies 🍾🥂

🎁 Christmas Raffle 🎁

This week we did the drawer for our Christmas raffle.

Huge thanks to everyone who kindly donated prizes. ❤️

A special mention must go to Carol and Pat who blew us away with their kindness of several donations of beautiful hampers and homemade Christmas cakes. They are always so generous and thoughtful and thank you just doesn’t seem enough. Our heartfelt thanks to you both. 🙏❤️

This year we are raising funds for Dementia UK for the amazing support their Admiral Nurses provide to those with Dementia and their families and friends who care for them. ❤️

Huge thanks to everyone who bought tickets, the money raised is going to an excellent charity 🙏

Our residents enjoyed getting involved and picking the winning tickets, well done and thank you for your help 🙏👏

🎄❤️ Thanking our Staff ❤️🎄

Yesterday we treated the whole Watermead Rose team throughout the day and night shifts.

We wanted the opportunity to connect with each and every person to personally thank them for everything they have done this year and wish them and their loved ones a very Merry Christmas 🎄

Everyone enjoyed music, a buffet of international cuisine which was so delicious.

We made some fun awards and presented the team with festive treats and gift vouchers 🎁

What an awesome team, we are so proud of their achievements this year and we really appreciate them all ❤️

🎄Christmas Tree Competition🎄

The third part of our inter home competition was to create a Winter Wonderland with our main tree in reception 🎄⛄️❄️

Sadly we didn’t win this element of the competition but it’s the taking part that counts.

We made such wonderful memories with our residents creating this amazing display, so we feel like winners 🎄❤️

A huge well done to everyone involved in creating the Watermead Winter Wonderland, we think it’s spectacular 🫶👏

🎉🎄💫Christmas Cake Competition 💫🎄🎉

As part of our inter home Christmas competition we had to create a Christmas cake 🎄

Although we didn’t actually win in the category we feel it was a winning cake! 🌟

The theme was Winter Wonderland and our cake truly represented that ❄️

Every part of the cake was home made by our wonderful residents with support from Jayne, Chloe and our chef Susan ❤️

They all worked incredibly hard from shopping for the ingredients to baking the cake, to creating the decorations, including that amazing ice dome which was entirely edible ⛄️

Huge congratulations to you all for producing this awesome cake. Thank you for your undying enthusiasm and passion for this challenge 🫶

🎄💫 Christmas Competition 💫🎄

And the winner is…

Today was the day we have been waiting for, competition day!

Over the past few weeks Jayne and Chloe have been working very hard with our residents to create some winning entries for the annual MACC Care Christmas competition.

It was so important to us that our entries were authentic and handmade by our residents.

Together they discussed ideas, made a plan, went shopping to buy materials and ingredients and put a lot of love into their wonderful creations.

The theme was Winter Wonderland ❄️ There were 3 categories that were judged:

🎄Christmas Cake
🎄Christmas Card
🎄Christmas Tree

We had to transport our entries by car over to Blossomfield Rose in Solihull where the judging was taking place.

Sue drove, whilst Jayne and Sarah held our entries safely.

The photos below give an overview of our entries with a focus on our ‘WINNING’ Christmas Card.

Yes, out of all the homes in the MACC Care group, team Watermead won!🥇 🎉 💖 How fantastic is that.

Huge congratulations to our residents, Jayne and Chloe, we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. What amazing superstars you are 👏🌟🤩

The residents made all of the decorations on the card by hand, they deserved to win 🥇

🎁 Surprise Hamper Delivery 🎁

Today Sue surprised the local Church coffee morning with a festive hamper of treats.

The volunteers at St Michael’s and All Angels Church do so much to support the Thurmaston parish community so we wanted to give them a treat.

Sue spent time chatting to Darren, the Church Secretary and to the group who had gathered to enjoy tea, coffee and cakes. It was so lovely to make new connections that we hope to work with in the new year.

🎄Festive Entertainment🎄

Yesterday our residents enjoyed listening to 2 very talented musicians.

First up was Roger who is the son of one of our residents. He played guitar and sang a variety of old favourites and Christmas hits 🎸

Next up was Charlotte who played the clarinet and saxophone beautifully 🎷

Our residents sang along, clapped their hands and tapped their feet in time with the beat.

After the show our resident ambassador, Barry enjoyed talking with Charlotte about their shared love of the clarinet.

Thank you Roger and Charlotte for a fantastic afternoon. You are both so talented and you brought so much joy to our residents. 🙏
