Being diagnosed with a lung condition for some patients can feel overwhelming. To support patients through their journey Asthma + Lung UK have created online sessions for patients that offer a safe space to share experiences, gain information and find support from others facing similar health concerns.

Each session will be led by a registered nurse experienced in respiratory care and there will be a live Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask your questions.

If you are aged 40–74 and do not have a long-term condition, you may be eligible for a free NHS Health Check.

The check looks at your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease using your QRISK score.

Please note that Accurx online requests open at 8:00am each day.

Requests are reviewed in the order they are received. If you submit a request later in the morning (for example at 10:00am), we may not be able to offer you a same-day appointment due to high demand and your request may be dealt with later in the day depending on how busy we are.

To give yourself the best chance of being reviewed and offered a same-day appointment, please submit your request at 8:00am.

Last month, missed appointments at our practice resulted in over 20 hours of unused clinical time.

This is estimated to represent £2,000–£3,000 of staff time that could not be used for patient care.

This time and funding could have been used for:
✔ More appointments
✔ Additional staff support
✔ Improved patient services

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel in advance.
You can cancel quickly using the NHS App or by contacting the surgery. Your cancellation allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

Every appointment at Ratby Medical Centre is important. When a patient does not attend and does not cancel, that slot cannot be given to someone else who needs care.

📉 Last month, missed appointments resulted in over 20 hours of lost clinical time.
That’s time our doctors, nurses, and paramedic could have spent seeing other patients.

Missed appointments can lead to:
• Longer waiting times for routine appointments
• Fewer urgent appointments available on the day
• Increased pressure on our clinical and reception teams
• Delays in test results reviews and follow-ups

✅ If you can’t attend your appointment, please cancel in advance using the NHS App or by contacting the surgery.
