What is Reflexology.
Reflexology is a natural, holistic, pressure therapy. It is a therapy in which the therapist uses their thumbs and fingers to apply pressure to the client’s feet and/or hands. All organs, systems and glands of the body can be mapped onto areas of the feet called reflex points. A reflexologist knows how to stimulate the reflex points in order to bring about a response in the corresponding part of the body.
‘The feet are mirrors that reflect the condition of the body’
How does it work.
Reflexology stimulates and frees energy helping to release blockages within our system. During a session subtle energy flows are revitalised and blockages released. This then stimulates our own bodies natural internal healing. Six body systems are primarily affected these are:
Nervous system- Calms/ tones and stimulates as necessary.
Endocrine system- Balances hormones and works with the nervous system bringing a state of relaxation as endorphins are released.
Blood vascular system- Improves circulation.
Lymphatic system- Improves efficiency of waste removal from body tissues.
Excretory system- Speeds up the elimination of waste products from the Liver, Kidneys and bowel.
Energy system- Stimulates subtle energy flow along the meridians/zones.
Enhances sleep quality-regular sessions improve sleep and help ease insomnia
Some of the benefits of having a Reflexology treatment are:
• Reduces stress and induces relaxation.
• Improves circulation.
• Balances the system as a whole.
• Revitalises energy.
• Strengthens the immune system.
• Helps to cleanse the body of impurities and toxins.
