This year’s Buddhist Psychology series starts next week. In the first session I’ll be giving an overview of the structure of ideas and the ways these can inform therapy practices.
In particular this time I’ll be looking at the premise that Buddhist psychology describes a process of disconnection. In the ordinary mindset we cut ourselves off psychologically and materially from really engaging with others through processes known as attachment - the mental clinging to ideas and ways of perceiving, as well the way we hold onto possessions and particular behaviours in our lifestyles. In therapeutic terms this understanding underlines the importance of reconnecting in different ways: seeing others in a less invested way, working in the outdoors with awareness, mindfulness that focuses on attention for example.
This course is part of the Tariki training programme but is open to anyone who is interested. You can take the whole thing or dip in to individual workshops. CPD certification available.
