Sometimes it takes a real moment to highlight what is truly needed.
During Jummah prayer at Masjid Amin, a member of the congregation suddenly collapsed just moments after the service ended. In a room full of people ready to help, including doctors, we came together quickly to assist. But in that moment, one thing became very clear, we were not fully equipped.
We searched for an ambulance style transfer chair to move him safely, but there was nothing available. It was a struggle. In the end, we carefully managed to get him onto a standard chair and stayed with him until paramedics arrived.
That experience stayed with me. No community space, especially one that serves so many people every week, should be without the basic equipment needed in an emergency. A promise was made there and then to make sure this did not happen again.
Today, that promise has been fulfilled. An ambulance transfer chair has now been donated to Masjid Amin, ensuring that if someone needs urgent assistance, they can be moved safely, quickly, and with dignity.
This is more than just a piece of equipment. It is peace of mind for the elderly who attend regularly, reassurance for families, and support for the wider Oadby community who use the mosque for prayers, education, and gatherings.
In moments of difficulty, community matters most. And sometimes, the smallest actions can make the biggest difference.
