Lets talk about it!

Please, pause for thought…….

We’d like to ask everyone to please ‘pause for thought’ when considering advance funeral planning.

We and other reputable, trade body registered, independent family funeral directors, provide every single tup of service that you may have in mind, be it a traditional or contempory funeral, a simple funeral, or a direct (non attended) cremation, and all close by here in your local community.

Whatever you may have in mind, it’s a big decision. Please stop and talk with family and friends, if you feel you can. Have the discussion about what you are considering and aks them what their thoughts are, because they will be the bereaved when you pass and they may have different needs than you may believe them to have.

We have a free ‘My Funeral Wishes’ service, where we can help you documenting your wishes which can be kept at home, with a solicitor, friend, or family member and requires no obligation to buy or pre-purchase anything.

⭐️⭐️ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ⭐️⭐️

Our very own Caroline has nominated for the Matthew Gallagher IFD Award. This is a prestigious accolade within the funeral service profession, presented annually by the Independent Funeral Directors (IFD) College.

The Matthew Gallagher IFD Award is a prestigious accolade within the funeral service profession, presented annually by the Independent Funeral Directors (IFD) College.
Established in memory of the esteemed funeral director and dedicated IFD College governor, assessor and verifier, Matthew Gallagher, this award honours his unwavering commitment to education and mentorship in the funeral profession.

Matthew Gallagher was renowned for his unique ability to inspire and recognise the potential in every student. His legacy lives on through this award, which seeks to acknowledge students who have demonstrated exceptional ability, applied their IFD College training positively, overcome significant challenges, or made noteworthy contributions to their communities. Such contributions might include initiatives like establishing bereavement support groups, managing impactful projects, or leading the induction of new staff members.

The Shortlisting Process
Being shortlisted for The Matthew Gallagher IFD Award signifies that a nominee has been recognised for outstanding achievements and dedication to the funeral service profession. Nominations are accepted from employers, colleagues, or through self-nomination, and are evaluated based on the nominee’s ability to:

✅Exhibit exceptional skill and professionalism in their role.

✅Effectively utilise their training from the IFD College to benefit their practice and community.

✅Overcome personal, educational, or physical challenges in their pursuit of excellence.

The selection committee meticulously reviews each nomination to identify individuals who embody the spirit and values that Matthew Gallagher championed.

On hearing the news that she had been shortlisted Caroline said:“ I am so honoured to have been chosen as a finalist for the Matthew Gallagher award. I know everyone who was nominated works hard within the profession so to even be considered is amazing. I have loved learning about the funeral profession and supporting all of our families – every day is different – every family’s needs are different and I am truly honoured to do the work I do”

The impact of being shortlisted
Achieving a place on the shortlist for this award is a testament to a nominee’s dedication and impact within the funeral service sector. It brings several benefits:

✅Professional Recognition: Acknowledgment from peers and industry leaders enhances the nominee’s professional reputation.

✅Career Advancement: Recognition can open doors to new career opportunities and professional growth.

✅Networking Opportunities: Engagement with a community of like-minded professionals fosters valuable connections and collaborations.

✅Personal Fulfilment: Validation of one’s hard work and perseverance boosts morale and motivation.

“Caroline very quickly said she wanted to learn more and understand everything there is to know about the funeral profession. The IFD College courses were the perfect solution and to see her grow and find her own way in the profession is just lovely.

“We need to nurture the individuals that want to come into the profession – they are our future shining light and Caroline’s experience of funeral care will be so different from my own – the profession is forever evolving and we need to breathe new life into it, to keep it current and to make sure smaller Independent businesses continue to thrive and care for their communities. I am very proud of her,” commented Arran.

Being shortlisted for The Matthew Gallagher IFD Award is a significant honour that reflects a nominee’s exceptional contributions to the funeral service profession. It not only celebrates individual achievements but also perpetuates the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to uplifting others in the field. For those aspiring to make a meaningful impact in funeral services, this recognition serves as both an inspiration and a benchmark of excellence. The final decision will be made on 9th May.
