Established in memory of the esteemed funeral director and dedicated IFD College governor, assessor and verifier, Matthew Gallagher, this award honours his unwavering commitment to education and mentorship in the funeral profession.
Matthew Gallagher was renowned for his unique ability to inspire and recognise the potential in every student. His legacy lives on through this award, which seeks to acknowledge students who have demonstrated exceptional ability, applied their IFD College training positively, overcome significant challenges, or made noteworthy contributions to their communities. Such contributions might include initiatives like establishing bereavement support groups, managing impactful projects, or leading the induction of new staff members.

I know everyone who was nominated works hard within the profession so to even be considered is amazing. I have loved learning about the funeral profession and supporting all of our families – every day is different – every family’s needs are different and I am truly honoured to do the work I do”
