Recently had a baby?

You can get pregnant from 3 weeks (21 days) after giving birth. This can happen before you have a period, even if you're breastfeeding.

Some types of contraception can be used immediately after giving birth. For some other types, it’s recommended to wait for a few weeks.

You can talk to your GP, health visitor or s*xual health clinic about contraception at any time.

This week is 👩🏼‍❤️‍👩🏼

So we thought we'd share some key s*xual health info for le****ns!

ℹ️ Le****ns CAN get STIs - STIs can be passed on from s*xual activity between women. Oral s*x and sharing s*x toys are two of the more common ways women who have s*x with women can get an STI, but some STIs can be passed on through intimate skin-to-skin contact and mutual ma********on too. It’s worth getting checked out regularly, you can get tested in clinic or order a kit online.

ℹ️ Condoms can be handy! - For an easy way to protect against infections, use a new condom on a toy between each partner or body opening. Another option to protect against infections is to wash the toy between each partner or body opening. (...and don’t forget, you can get free condoms with a C-Card!)

ℹ️ Trade have LGBTQ+ clinics - Trade and Leicester Sexual Health hold a number of clinics at the Trade office, that provide s*xual health services exclusively for the LGBTQ+ community. You can also drop by the Trade office any time during their opening hours to take a self-testing kit, pick up condoms or have a chat for information and advice.

ℹ️ Cervical screening is still important! - It’s a myth that le****ns don’t need cervical screening. In fact, it’s important for all women and people with a cervix to attend cervical screening when they are invited, as it’s one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer.

Live in Leicestershire? Remember, if you live in Leicestershire & Rutland you can access:
- Free condoms via CondomsNow scheme
- Online testing
- In person clinics
- Trade clinics

📢 Change of Provider for Testing Kits ℹ️

The provider of our online services changed earlier this year from SH:24 to SH.UK. This includes STI testing kits, contraception pills and emergency contraception.

This does not affect the service you receive, only the site where you order from. The STI test kits will test for the same infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. They are sent in plain packaging and are free to order and post back.

To order an STI kit, visit our website: https://orlo.uk/xMk62
