Kim Woods Yoga

Kim Woods Yoga I offer one-to-one sessions and various classes; beginners Hatha yoga, dynamic yoga, yoga for runner Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.

I first practised yoga in my teens and then on and off during university years but have been practising regularly for over 25 years. Yoga is now central to my life and the way I live, my practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. I completed my 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher training with Bahia Yoga in Nottingham and my advanced adjustments training and Ashtanga Yoga training with Ryan Spielman and TeenYoga with The TeenYoga Foundation. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me. In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced. I love yoga and my mission is to pass on that love to others to empower them to find their own way to a healthy body and mind. I am based in Leicester (UK) and offer one-to-one lessons or small private groups. I currently teach on-line via Zoom, at the Space to Breathe Collective in Leicester, Stoneygate Baptist Church Hall and village halls in and around Leicester/Leicestershire. Feel free to contact me for further information or to make a booking. Namaste, Kim x

Happy Shoulders, Neck, Back & Face
A Yin Yoga and Self Massage Workshop - With Kim Woods

Targets deep tension. Calming, meditative. Suitable for all.

Do you want to soften your face and release tension in your shoulders, back and neck? If so, this long Yin session combined with self-massage is for you!

We begin the class with some face yoga and with breathing techniques to release tension in the face, jaw and neck. This will also increase the blood and energy flow into the face, which has an energising and softening effect. We continue to use the breath throughout the practice to remind us to relax the jaw and face and to calm the nervous system down. We'll also practice some gentle movements for the eyes, jaw, neck, shoulders and back; these are followed by long-held, Yin poses to release these areas even more. We end with Savasana using tennis balls to release tension in the upper back.

All the poses are adaptable with the use of props, so the workshop is ideal for those new to yoga as well as seasoned yogis.

If you have time you can stay for a cuppa and cake after class.

Restorative Yoga Workshop – Be Still
Anxiety-Balancing Practice - Calming Your Body and Mind
Deeply relaxing, Deeply Healing. Date: Tuesday 22nd July 2025
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Place: Studio Bhāvanā
Cost: £15 (KWY Members £12.50) This restorative practise is designed for anyone who ever experiences anxiety in mind or in body at any time …. all of us? It features face-down restorative poses to ground, calm, and soothe your body and mind.

Conceptual insight is not required for change; in some cases, it actually interferes with it. By working in a body-based realm, we can bypass this mental interference. We can feel rather than think the emotional experiences that heal us. Restorative yoga emphasises relaxation and inner work. Relaxation is important in changing your emotional patterns. Awareness of your direct experience, especially the ability to distinguish comfort from discomfort, will help you deepen relaxation, and balance your body and mind.

Restorative yoga can help improve sleep by promoting relaxation and reducing stress, which are common factors that disrupt sleep patterns. By slowing down the nervous system, restorative yoga helps the body transition into a state of rest and calm, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

This series of restorative poses is designed to soothe your senses and re-set your nervous system enabling better sleep:
-Restorative yoga helps reduce stress by calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation. This can help individuals who struggle with stress-related insomnia.
-Restorative yoga can help shift the body’s nervous system from the “fight or flight” response to the “rest and digest” response, which is essential for sleep.
-By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, restorative yoga can help improve the overall quality of sleep, leading to more restful and rejuvenating sleep.
-Studies have shown that restorative yoga can help reduce symptoms of insomnia, such as difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
All props are provided.

There will be time for questions/chat over tea & cake after practice, 3.30pm to 4pm.

YIN YOGA & SELF MASSAGE WORKSHOP
CREATING SPACE This two-hour workshop combines yin yoga poses and self-massage techniques to create space in your body and calm your mind.

Our hectic lives are so often about needing to be somewhere, having to do something and trying to be somebody. Yin yoga affords us the opportunity to stop. During the workshop you’ll discover the numerous physical and mental benefits of relinquishing striving, controlling and aiming for a destination and instead of allowing, letting and surrendering in a pose.

The longer holds and slower pace of the class allows for the stretch to move beyond the muscles and into the connective tissue. Yin works in association with acupressure points from Chinese medicine. This practice is especially useful in easing stiffness and increasing flexibility.

You’ll learn self-massage and ball rolling techniques you can use at home. They are a useful way to continue the practice of releasing muscles and calming the nervous system.

All the poses are adaptable with the use of props, so the workshop is ideal for those new to yoga as well as seasoned yogis.

All props provided.

There will be time to enjoy a cuppa and cake (hopefully in the garden) after the workshop ends. (Any dietary requirements please let me know at time of booking).
